Apple Protests...Who Are These Morons?

In this specific case, there is probable cause to crack that phone. The constitution and almost every court ruling since its inception is on the FBI's side.

And now the FBI is demanding help for MORE specific cases.

No probable cause. The FBI wants a third party with no relationship to the case to develop a program to bypass a security system.

FBI admits this a fishing expedition.

Yup.

It's the kind of thing that only begins to make sense if one has absolute trust in the government. A fraction of a look at how far the NSA went beyond the already-extreme measures in the Patriot Act without any qualms is all one needs to know whether or not the FBI can be trusted to use the program it wants Apple to create on just that one phone.

Encrypted phone passwords that the FBI cannot break do not save lives. These people are idiots.

Giving the FBI a backdoor to all phones with that operating system will not save lives either, and even if it did it would not be worthwhile.

What happened to "give me liberty or give me death"?

I'm saddened by the number of people alive these days who seem to be willing to trade every last bit of their privacy away as long as the government tells them that doing so will make them "safer".

(I mean, why not just give them the power to use "general warrants"? )

Which is why the FBI can crack that phone all they want to. Forcing apple to do it seems a bit outside that spectrum.
It is because they do not simply want to crack that one phone they want to crack ALL Apple Phones with Apple doing the actual work for them and with that done they can point to that as just cause to crack all our phones. Amazes me that people were having fits when the NSA was simply keeping tabs on what numbers where called to know terrorists and their associates and then some of those same people want the government to get into everyone's phone any time they want, all in the name of "security". If apple were to comply people would be getting rid of their Apple I-Phones in droves and that would be the end of that portion of their business, I would tell the FBI to go to H*ll, Apple has the legal resources to fight this until the end of time in the courts.

You mean we cannot Trust the Government, tell me it isn't so

the centrist once again on the side of big government.

in related news, the sun sets in the west.

If you're so excited about saving lives, I'm sure you'll agree that keeping terrorists in Gitmo until they croak is a great thing.

Maybe if your government did it's job in the first place the need to exploit the citizenry to close the gaps from all the blunders it causes wouldn't be necessary.

Maybe if your government wasn't so keen on herding millions of voters for your cause into my nation illegally it wouldn't be necessary.
You fail to take into consideration the failures of your government and the fact that people are growing weary of dealing with a bully who seems to be wrong most often and dangerous as well.

We'll let the courts decide if this is "Unreasonable" or not. Those who feel the government is a "Calamity" in progress no doubt disagree with your assessment.

I don't follow how our Constitution and Amendments are always being twisted around to protect our enemies . . . rather than serving to aid in defending out country and us as individuals.

What in the hell has happened to where companies that we made happen can take positions of their own personal interests when the matter in question is a matter of national security - life and death?

How exactly does that sit well with people? Who gives a **** about privacy - that's not even on the line. They could just crack open the phone (no big deal) - make copies of its content - and then hand that over to those who need it.

Problem solved and Tim Cook will reclaim his rotted grace.

What the hell does Joe Nobody have on his private, personal phone that's so much more important than trying to bring an end to Isis - et al?

All these people who support Cook need to keep their view in mind when tragedy befalls again and they dare go 'why won't the government DOOOO something to stop these people!'

A corporate entity shouldn't be more powerful than any government.

What's on your iPhone? Do you keep financial data? Medical? Private conversations? Passwords? Porn?

And it's not just government snoops. If some scumbag steals your phone, do you want him/her to get to your personal stuff?

I would be curious to know: How many iPhone owners have private stuff on their phone that just DO NOT WANT some busybody to get ahold of?
