Well I don't think that BO's base is going to like this..... kind of hid this with his Amnesty Deal. It appears we will now be allowed to target the Taliban again, in Afghanistan. What say ye?



WASHINGTON (AP) U.S. troops in Afghanistan may once again engage Taliban fighters, not just al-Qaida terrorists, under new guidelines quietly approved by President Barack Obama, administration officials say. The armed forces were to limit their operations in Afghanistan to counterterrorism missions against al-Qaida after this year, until Obama broadened the guidelines in recent weeks. The plan comes as the U.S. combat mission in Afghanistan draws to a close, thousands of troops return home and the military prepares for a narrower counterterrorism and training mission for the next two years.

Obama's decision also means the U.S. can conduct air support when needed.

The New York Times first reported the new guidelines. Officials confirmed details to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss Obama's decisions by name......snip~

It makes sense in a way. The last thing the president wants is to pull the troops from Afghanistan and than a year latter have the Taliban playing the role ISIS is in Iraq. I think he did the right thing, whether it is because of politics or not, does it really matter?
 

Do you think it matters with the Fab 5 of the Taliban who he released? Who disappeared from Qatar where they were suppose to be.

I think it is the Right move so that we are not only playing defense. Getting the Air support for our Troopers is what really counts. Plus any counters will allow drones to be used.

mmm, instead of mindlessly parroting conservative narratives, do you think you could explain why I'm supposed to not like this? remember, this is a debate forum. You're sorta supposed to back up your "narratives".

Uhm, do you even follow Politics Vern or do you just make up your own BS as you come along? Now what did his base say about Pulling out of Afghanistan? Do you know anyone who IS anyone in BO's base? Ever read what they write?

Obama is escalating another war, after claiming AQ was on the run. Terrorism flourishes under Obama, lets hope he's learned his lesson.
 
No one, at least not I, should criticize President Obama for this decision, one that should be mirroring a similar decision he made in Iraq back in 2011. Had the 2011 decision been made and actively pursued with the Iraqi government, I doubt very much that ISIS would be in control of large swaths of Iraq here today.

Perhaps, now that Obama has no need to politicize his actions in the middle east, he will act more in the interests of America and less in the interests of the Democrat party.
 

Pretty much. Where ever our troops are they should not have one hand tied behind their backs. Those Fab 5 as you put it will be back on the battlefield or doing their thing as far as financing, drawing up plans, coming up with tactics and strategy to over the present government of Afghanistan.

how predictable. You not only didn't explain your 'narrative' you asked "questions". If you have to "deflect" from your own narrative, what does that say about your narrative?

Vern don't deflect and the only thing that is predictable is when you bring whatever insult or slight and what you don't know.....what did Mother Jones and The Progressive Base state about BO following thru and pulling out of Afghanistan? This was all up in the News With Huff PO, Think Progress, and Daily Kos.

Do try and bring up why they were upset with BO peep over Afghanistan. You can manage Just one Writer from all that self alleged pumped up intelligence you say you have.

I didn't deflect as I know what BO peep and his base said about the Taliban and Afghanistan. Evidently you don't. . Still my point was to prove you didn't know **** that BOs base had stated in the first place. Which we already knew.

The only question you need to ask yourself is.....if you can't handle basic politics with the media reports. Then Why are you even trying to talk about something you can't comprehend.

Seems many others don't have such a problem nor your limitation. Although you looking to tout honesty.....is laughable at best!
