Any suggestions for a new computer?

My problems with MacOS is the lack of a logical file system (Same with Linux), the lack of right click out of the box and dependence on short keys/hot keys to get anything done. Also the fact you have to click 2353 buttons to get an app to shut down, instead of just an X. There are small annoyances that make MacOS a worse experience than most Linux distros. Now Macs battery optimization is great...only high end Windows machines and the new Snapdragon machines are equivalent or better.

The worst MacOS experience I had was it refusing to shut down because there was an active internet connection being used...I was livid that my command was refused by this piece of crap. If I say shut down, then it should do it..
I've not had those issues.

That is a huge Apple tax for ram upgrades.

How much is that compared to extra RAM and a GPU to get the same work done on a good PC?

I would be willing to look into buying an apple if I could upgrade components on my own.

Sadly, Apple has gone the other way and others are following suit.

⌘Q does the same job. I worked for a guy who liked the X on a PC because he could close Pornhub down with one hand and one click if anyone walked in on him. I supposed ⌘Q takes half a second longer?

My work Windows laptop always delays shut-down and I think my personal Windows laptop does it too. You've seen "shut down anyway" on your laptop haven't you?
Besides, if you ask your Mac to reopen all windows and Apps when it starts up again you can shut down most times even with an App like Affinity open. You get all your Apps up on screen ready to carry on where you left off.

All machines will stop shutdown if you are trying to shut down while you are saving a piece of work.

Anyhow, this is now Mc vs PC and that's not why I was here. I'll stop there.

DDR5 6000 speed and 32GB is 100 euros. Apples Tax is 400 euros.

GPU wise it really depends on what you need it for. The higher end GPUs crush Macs, but are also pricey. But what is GPU power, when you only have 16 GB ram.. that's the bottleneck.

Not sure what you mean? The file system is basically hidden. Sure you can press "Go" and then go to Computer and from there get what is a more normal file system structure.. but it should be like that from default. Its annoying that everything takes extra clicks and hotkeys on Mac.. so inefficient. And yes this aint relevant for 99% of Mac Users who just put everything on the desktop.

Hotkeys suck! The only hotkeys that can be accepted is CTRL/Command C, CTRL/Command V and maybe CTRL/Command A ..

There is a window with a red button.. that should shut down the freaking app. The inconsistency is mindboggling. Sitting here with my Mac.. Apps and Settings shut down by clicking the red button. Notes does not.. Chrome does not.. FINDER does not.. WHY!? Facetime does?!? Photos does!? but not Notes?

Rarely, but yes. It does not refuse to shut down :) as it will shut down even if you dont press "shut down anyway" The Mac I was working on did refuse to shut down because it thought a metered connection was still downloading in Safari that was shut down (with your stupid hotkey command). To be fair, the machine was really acting strangely across the board, with visual bugs, and hotkeys not working... I could not shut down Safari by hitting the Safari button and then Quit Safari.. but I could use the Command Q hotkeys.. so I ended up doing a full reinstall and that fixed all the strange stuff. Took ages to do... dont get me started on that part! Only positive was that they paid by the hour!

Macs are not designed to be shut down. Only old farts like me like shutting down stuff. It is a control issue. I have seen a Mac (and yes Windows machines) suddenly turn on and do something and shut down again.. so I always shut down my important machines :)
