The diversity of the different states is what gave America its strength. Now, as the feds gain more control, that is changing.
When "prosperity" only benefits a few people it does not improve the overall quality of life for a community, it can harm it.
Prosperity is earned not taken from one and given to another. That's called socialism.
Yes, socialism must habitually bailout capitalism with a republic.
No, I believe it is 180 degrees the opposite.
I wish Google would take them up on this. Small caveat, if the project fails all property therein reverts to Google. If you want a good laugh, read the lunatic rantings of the protestors.

Here is what they want:
We demand that Google give three billion dollars to an anarchist organization of our choosing. This money will then be used to create autonomous, anti-capitalist, and anti-racist communities throughout the Bay Area and Northern California. In these communities, whether in San Francisco or in the woods, no one will ever have to pay rent and housing will be free. With this three billion from Google, we will solve the housing crisis in the Bay Area and prove to the world that an anarchist world is not only possible but in fact irrepressible. If given the chance, most humans will pursue a course towards increased freedom and greater liberty. As it stands, only people like Kevin Rose are given the opportunity to reshape their world, and look at what they do with those opportunities.

Why do you believe that? Capitalism doesn't even include a form of government.
Socialism is a failure every time it is foisted on the people. That's why.
Tell the Swedes that.
You feel the Swedes are doing well because of socialism?
Do you deal exclusively in strawmen? Do you get your rocks off on taking other people's words, changing said words, and then throwing those new, different words back at them?
What did you mean then by "Tell the Swedes that"?
Sweden practices a good deal of socialism. Has it "failed" there? Simple yes or no question. And when you answer "no," which is the correct answer, then we can move on from this idiotic tangent.
A Scandinavian economist once said to Milton Friedman, ‘In Scandinavia, we have no poverty’. Milton Friedman replied, ‘That’s interesting, because in America, among Scandinavians, we have no poverty, either’.
Several reports of this incident have made the news, all trying to re-categorize the protesters as something other than leftist OWS types. This is not far different than the discussion on another thread concerning the Mozilla exec forced to resign.
What are your thoughts as to this type of bullying by the extreme left?
I don't understand how you're against this. I thought conservatives were all about tradition?
Tell the Swedes that.
Not pure socialist.
They sound like spoiled children...."I want what you have so give it to me or I'll destroy you!"
You need to calm down. They peacefully assembled and protested legally. You can protest from the sidewalk. You're sitting here crying about a group exercising rights because you don't like their message, trying to make it seem like they did wrong because you don't like the message. Well you ain't the queen of England, your word is not law.
This is a consequence of freedom, people will say things you don't like. But you sound just like one of these entitled protestors, crying about his we should infringe upon assembly and protest because you don't like what is being said. I suggest you learn to accept the repercussions of freedom.
Locals can't always improve their jobs, guy. In my home town (which is in the periphery of the boom area), I know single moms that had their rent jack up so much they are hoping that they can become a home owner. That's not an easy task in that housing market. This boom has uprooted a lot of folks that do not or can not have the jobs that pay enough to sustain their living arrangements. There are many parts of North Dakota's economy that cannot keep up with the oil sector and we do not have enough housing to deal with the growth. That's just reality down here.
There hasn't been a "pure socialist" society in recent history.
It sounds like the problem is greedy landlords.
