Are you going to post a link to an article or report, or are you simply going to make libelous, bullshit claims?

I think this is the article that is being discussed: Most Katrina Aid From Overseas Went Unclaimed - washingtonpost.com

From reading the article, I don't think that 'only 40 million accounted for' is completely accurate.

Direct quote from the article:
Allies offered $854 million in cash and in oil that was to be sold for cash. But only $40 million has been used so far for disaster victims or reconstruction, according to U.S. officials and contractors. Most of the aid went uncollected, including $400 million worth of oil. Some offers were withdrawn or redirected to private groups such as the Red Cross. The rest has been delayed by red tape and bureaucratic limits on how it can be spent.

It doesn't seem like money was misappropriated as the OP suggests, but the sheer volume of aid was too much for the government to handle, well. This certainly speaks of problems with providing aid for Katrina victims, but doesn't speak of government misdoings.

Don't you see the irony in that? The sheer volume of the money is too much for the US gov to handle?

Absolutely. To me that speaks to incompetence and poor management. It doesn't indicate any intentional misdoings.

Just a couple of things why I blame Bush.
1- It is on his watch. He could have hired some competent people but chose to put people that have NO clue as to what they are doing in these posititions.
2- Bush has NO interest in getting New Orleans back together. He would rather see all the Blacks that are spread across the country stay where they are.
Notice how most all the black and some white people were sent to mostly all Dem states where their Dem votes will not really count anyway.
I noticed!!!:2bow:

By that logic the Virginia Tech Massacre was his fault to, hey it happened during his watch!

Yes, Katrina was a vast political conspiracy propogated by Bush and Cheney so Republicans would win Louisiana!

Holy ****, you do know that it was a natural disaster, right? You know, act of God and all of that? I don't think any insurance company has an 'act of Bush' disqualifier in their policies.

I'm not a fan of Bush on the majority of issues, but it gets silly when you start blaming him for natural disasters. If everybody had seen this coming, they would have left. You noticed what, exactly? Cheney hiding behind a curtain operating his big weather machine to gerrymander the minority votes?

Katrina was handled poorly. I'm not defending the government's response, I'm saying that it had little to do with Bush. I spent six years in the navy and was intimately familiar with the absurdities in the governmental bureaucracy. Blame the government, blame the regulations, blame the officials that are total ****in' jobsworths even when catastrophe has landed. But to make a thread saying "Another thing to blame Bush for" comes across as something a junior high school student would write.

If you had posted this in the conspiracy thread section, I probably wouldn't have bothered replying. But I hate this bizarre loyalty to one fringe or the other that requires someone to find fault and problems with everything that ever happens and lay it solely at the feet of those in charge of the party you dislike.

I know your just rushing to protect your God Bush but I never said "Katrina" was a vast political conspriacy. What took place "after Katrina."

The neocons have been complete moronic idiots yelling and screaming and pointing everything down toward clinton even without any evidence to support. They just say well he's a guilty perjurer so he must be guilty. Are we liberals no better than that?

This argument was that Clinton did virtually nothing to realistically address the looming threat of Islamic terrorism during his eight years in office. The issue is subjective for most people but one thing is for sure, it obviously gained a very big head of steam while the Clinton administration pondered what best to do about it. Over eight years. Anyway, I digress. Moving on...

You have obviously set the tone here that you believe George Bush to be a thief. You failed to cite any credible source for you allegation. Further, you either didn't truly understand the source of the information you were referencing in your initial post (this is an assumption on my part because you never linked it) or you deliberately misrepresented it to drive home your partisan sentiment. Your allegation is that somewhere in the neighborhood of 900+ million dollars is missing and that Bush has a hand in that money disappearing...oh and that he is a racist who used his position as President to further victimize the blacks. However, the truth of the matter is that none of the money is missing, it just went unused. There is a huge difference here. Later you backtracked a step, which is no substitution for an apology regarding your misrepresentation of the information. And you have no real basis for making your claim that Bush deliberately used his position to scatter the blacks across the country. That was really very poor form.

I do agree that this incident shows a complete lack of competency on the part of the Bush administration, even a lack of true concern. But thievery? Racism? Hardly. Conjecture is no substitution for factual accounting.

Now if you have other information to add to this that would substantiate your point I would certainly be willing to examine it.

To Captain Courteous...thank you for injecting what I believe is the source of the thread authors "evidence."
