So I have been playing around a lot with AI music generation. My favorite platform is SUNO.

The only real issue I had with SUNO was that the lyrics were not generally good. It took a lot of passes before it came up with lyrics I thought were OK.
So then I hear of the ChatBOT Claude, a chatbot that is sort of known for it's abilities to write lyrics. If you ask Claude to write lyrics and separate out Verse and Chorus etc. in brackets you can plug them right into SUNO as written lyrics and let SUNO just handle the music and voices.

So when SUNO 4.5+ was released I decided to start putting it through it's paces with some challenging genres. The idea I had was to play around with some mismatches in subject and genre, but first I wanted to see how it did with Psychedelic Jazz.

Right off the bat I may have accidentally had Claude and SUNO create the creepiest song ever...

The song I intended to be the spooky/creepy song is kind of pale in comparison (pun!)

So when I made the last two songs I just did a cut and paste from Claude to SUNO without any editing.

I decided to give a second go at a Vampire themed song, but I did some editing to the lyrics before I uploded it to smooth some lyrical edges and changed up the genre prompt a bit.

I MUCH prefer this song thematically and musically, but I do love the musical sound of "The Crimson Hive".

I especially like Verse 2 after some editing (staring with "She Walks Alone"). I wanted Verse 2 to purposely be confusing. You aren't supposed to know for sure if either or both are vampire or victims, and I think it came out quite nice.

I guess I must be in a dark mood? I'm really enjoying the whole theme tonight.

This song turned out pretty awesome. I love the pace change on Verse 3.

The lyrics of this song were generated by Grok because Claude wouldn't write lyrics about mental illness. Vampires - Yes... Chernobyl - Yes... Serial killers? No.

One more before I head to bed. This is completely experimental, but I'm sticking with the theme. I have no idea how this will sound, and I didn't read the lyrics. You'll get it untouched.

I won't even screen it! This is an attempt at a mix of several music styles.

OK, so I listed to it after I posted... and another good song!

One of the interesting things I'm noticing in SUNO 4.5+is that the vocals in many songs I'm creating are the kinds of vocals that no human singer could probably match, but in some cases they work so well that they seem inseparable.

Specifically, in the first song I posted "The Ferris Wheel" the singer that starts the song slowly morphs into a totally different singer by the end, but the structure of the song demands it and the subject of the song is revealed. I can't think of a singer that could pull off the beginning and the end of that song.

To a lesser extent, the last song "Bourbon Street Beast" takes a bit of a break towards the end and seems to morph for a short time from a blue/soul to a Chris Stapleton-like country/Soul. I don't know that the transition, and transition back, is necessary to the song, but the morph in a song about a werewolf is certainly interesting.

Poor James Comey. 😄

I played around with the automated song publishing services online. It's not too hard if you aren't seeking to get paid (most of the services won't deal with AI generated songs).

So now my Record Lable "IGotSongs" has a grand total of 1 song published on Spotify. :ROFLMAO:

My project for this weekend is to finally teach myself all of the tools in SUNO and put together a full 9 to 10 track album using the vocalist from "Bourbon Street Beast" above, but it will be a bit more upbeat and optimistic.

I then plan to make a soundtrack for a make believe horror musical using the same vocalist from Bourbon Street Beast, New York Grendel and The Collectors along with a few more I have planned.

It's going to be a lot of fun!

Ran into a bit of a snag that kind of upends my grand plans for a few of the albums I have been working on.

The issue if that SUNO allows you to create Personas so that you can have a consistent vocal, but the song generation with a Persona is kind of broken and tends to kill the songs at the 5 minute mark. So to get full songs from a Persona I'll need to reduce the length of the songs considerably.

It's not a deal breaker, but I'll need to figure out who to edit my lyrics to shorten the generated songs.

I finished my Halloween themed album. I'm in the process of publishing it now.

I'll link to it when it becomes available on the various platforms.

I think it's pretty cool!

Here's the album cover:

So in the process of playing around with AI generation and online publishing I learns some things.

One of those things is that if you intend of publishing music you created, don't upload it to YouTube. It turns out that the AI watchdogs of the internet throw red flags all over the place if you try publishing music to platforms like Spotify and YouTube Music when there is an existing copy of it on the internet. So when I decided to create a Halloween Album that would include the songs above, I needed to take them off YouTube. That is why the links above are broken.

Also, as I have been working on the Halloween album I started making some up-beat, inspirational Pop Jazz songs as pallet cleansers. Eventually I had enough of them to put together a second album which ended up, due to the issues above, being my first album release. It really shows, though since a few songs have some technical and lyrical issues that slipped through the cracks.

The Second song cuts out a half second too soon, but I'm fixing that with an edit that will be published in the next 24 hours or so.

The third song, unfortunately, has a rather awkward cadence and rhyme in one phrase that I missed, but now it grates on me. THat I can't fix because you can't fix lyrics post-publishing. I can edit the song and smooth it out but I'd need to upload it as a remix and it wouldn't be included in the album.

Anyway, with all of it's warts, I still invite you to enjoy the Upbeat, inspirational stylings of my imaginary ensemble, The Miles Graley Band in their debut album: Simple Joy

My Horror themed album "All You Monsters" went live this morning. 8 songs navigating horror themes from a Mummy's curse (Curse of Dust)to a peak into the thoughts of a Serial Killer (New York Grendel)

The three songs that best realized my imagination going in are probably Bourbon Street Beast (Werewolf), The Collectors (Vampire and her prey), and Raised in Ruin (the horror of necromancy)

New York Grendel and a really cool beat, too.

I have not really gotten into generating music myself, I peaked after 1, but I think the cultural mashups people do can be interesting.
