Instead of continuing to be polarized and hateful to the other side ("civil war" bla bla) ... just acknowledge the results as they come in and accept them as they are and appreciate how thrilling this election season has been and how much effort everyone has put into.

Of course there are minor problems with voting, but we have them too. That is OK and one candidate will win and the other lose and that must be accepted.

There are much bigger things in life than worrying about an election win or loss and the world doesn't end because of it and neither will the US fall apart just because this or that one wins.

So, be joyful, accept the outcome and don't look back in anger ... :)

I can appreciate your post my Austrian friend.....but can you appreciate the horror many of us feel we will face in light of another trump presidency? We're facing a wannabe dictator with bad ties to Russia and other anti-American countries. Already convicted of serious crimes and facing many more. Among many other threats.

Trump will get himself impeached, this time for real. Are you equally worried about Vance?

Of course I am. If not more. He's mentally ill too but not senile and has enough time on this earth to destroy us if his sorry party allows it....

If Trump wins, it sounds like scorched earth from the Democrats.

No reason to think anything different from the Democrats should Harris win.

Well, that's dismal! I voted Democrat; see my post above.

You need to come back and shepherd this thread, @Tender Branson. It's going to shit.

It's a nice thought, but this isn't where America appears to be at the moment.

Sincere wishes for saner time ahead for our friends.

The best part of my visit to Austria this year was going to the Ahnuld museum.

Also, Graz is amazing.

Thank you!

Most of America is. Remember, DP is for political junkies (and a few lonely people).

One thing I know, Americans (as a whole) will never accept advice from Europeans after the election. What they do is what they'll do.

What about you? Will you take @Tender Branson's advice? I will, at least the divisive/anger part; never had those to lose. I'll worry, yes, but I always do when the President changes.
Well, I've never shamed a voter or a group of voters for their voting choice - so I certainly won't be lashing out at or personally attacking or shaming fellow posters for the way they chose to vote.

As far as accepting a potential Harris presidency, that would be a personal adjustment for me. My plan is to intentionally work to shift my "interests", if Harris wins. I'd work to follow politics less so her policy would bug me much less. In recent years, we've relocated our home to a place which is politically aligned with my views - so my "environment" has become very pleasant for me in that way. And these days, I have grandchildren at the most interesting ages - all at or right on the verge of adulthood - and following their adventures and huge college/even early career successes (which are very far and wide at this point) is so darn much fun.

If Trump wins, I'll thoroughly enjoy watching him put together his cabinet in the near future. Then, I'll love his initial border changes which I'm totally counting on. And I'll be following the war situation with great interest, and I'll be super hopeful those can reach an end, with Trump's negotiation assistance. I'll be thrilled if Musk really does lead a successful streamlining of too big government and the beginnings of getting some grip on the nation's budget problems.

There will be no looking back in anger from Dems if Trump wins. It will be immediate and massive anger. Anger will not be wasted on the past. The future will be thick with Democratic anger

This would be great, but one side clearly has a problem with this. See, it only takes one spouse to **** up a marriage, and MAGAs are the wayward spouses here. The rest of us have a choice to confront it or pretend like it isn't happening. Pretending is something I stopped doing in childhood.

It would be nice if the results could be accepted and move on but that does not appear to be where America is. Sadly, if Trump wins he won't create an environment conducive to acceptance it will be nothing but vengeance and retribution. For my part, I have resigned myself to a Trump win should that be the outcome but I will say it will alter my viewof the U.S.

Great minds, @gbg3 ! I plan on doing the same if Trump wins. It sounds like your grandchildren are a gift, regardless! Best to them, and to you!

Is that the country with the fantastic pastries?
