Well of course, and, one joins the military by choice, accepts an ambassadorship by choice. It's not as though this guy decided Pakistan was a keen place to take holiday.
he is not a government employee, he signed a waiver going over there as all contractors do. Greed drove him to go now it may cost him his life, again his choice.
any more ridiculous strawmen you want to offer up?
A waiver that if he found himself in trouble, he accepted that the US wouldn't help him out!
It is there I am sure, he assumed all risk, that is why the jobs pay so well. If there was no risk, everyone woud do it
What is your deal dude. I'm not disputing risk involved. Personally, I wouldn't travel anywhere near the near, far or Middle East for work or holiday, but that's just me. Anyone working on government business, especially in risky parts of the world has the expectation of help from their government if they fall into trouble. To insist otherwise is obsured.
No, it's not absolutely false, even a tourist in trouble expects his countries embassy is going to help him, much less someone working on a US project.
Which is why I'm of the opinion that we shouldn't have these embassies to begin with, nor should we allow them in our country. There is no need for them.
I disagree Tig, I just don't see where total isolationism would help anyone in the world....Of the truly isolationist countries in the world, tell us which one is even nearly as advanced as global alliance countries?
I don't believe I've ever claimed being "advanced" is the proper measure of a society. In fact I've claimed the exact opposite.... that Traditionalism is the proper measure of a society.

And yet here you are on your computer using technology. Classic hypocrisy.
Ok, I don't think you'll have many followers to go backwards.
Not at all. It's about how the technology is used and whether it's needed or not. There's no need for a passenger car that does 125 mph. You won't find any porn on my phone or PC. You won't find lots of games or other crap either. Why does a 12 year old need a smartphone?
Do you NEED to post on a message board to survive? Do you NEED to go to a restaraunt with your fiance to eat? Here's a hint, it's not about need but want. You yourself indulge in things you don't NEED and the proof of that is you being here.
My being here us more about other people's survival than my own and I can't actually remember the last time my fiance and I went out to dinner. I indulge in very few things I want. We do indulge in some things she wants but not even many of those.
That's why I'm not a fan of giving them an option.
I am not a believer of totalitarianism.
That's fine. The question may someday be are there more people on my side or yours who are willing and capable of killing to promote their vision. I know we both are, but who has more supporters who do?
I can only hope that day doesn't arrive. Freedom will always prevail over subjugation.
We've already been subjugated by a Government that couldn't even pronounce Morality, never mind spell it or know the definition of it. Therefore it's either revolt or capitulate, neither of which are pleasant options.
The reasons for either are numerous...I also don't buy into either/or scenarios....
I very rarely see reasons to capitulate. I do live in an Either/Or world and always have.
That's too bad.
