American Drug War Economics - Volume 1

I might be starting to come around on this. I just read that over 80% of the crime in my city is drug related.

Well I don't want the police spending 80% of their time arresting drug addicts. I want them spending 80% of their time stopping our outrageous murder rate.

The war on drugs is an abysmal failure, instead of preventing drug use, it has just increased it and has increased the amount of people that are sent to jail because of it.

What is it, like $10billion a year fighting the "war on drugs" while drug usage has actually increased in the last 30 years? Sounds like the American government to me.

Just think they let rapist, child molesters ,and other riff-raff go so they can lock up druggies. We have more people in prison than any other country, and most of them are non-violent drug offenders.

Ending drug prohibition and focusing on addiction as a sickness, like alcohol and prescription drugs, could save the U.S. economy and millions of lives. Please pass this video on to as many people as you can.

American Drug War: The Last White Hope - War on Drugs

Thats the way to move forward, the war on drugs made things worse and will never help. War on terror should not be fought militarily but intellectually and is likewise very similar, a sickness of idiocy.

Then its true that drugs ruins your life, but with the help of government... Imagine a poor guy who bought a bag of marijuana with his friend, get busted and his life ruined in prison.

Just wanted to separately thank you for bringing something intelligent to this forum. Watch out for the republicans now, they will argue otherwise and say the war on drugs is good just like war on terror and war in general. Sheeps and slaves, slaves are sheeps and sheeps are slaves.

Do you have something on Obama wanting to reform politics in the US? That is the most important issue right now..

Generalizations... :doh

Generalizations... :doh

Lol, thanks for pointing out the obvious.. I should have said "most republicans" :rofl

edit. And I should have added they will come up with some fraudulent arguments and spin to find a way to say that something bad is very good.

With the governments help yes it can ruin lives.
Just look at cigarettes and alcohol they kill more people in a year then drugs do in ten years probably, but that's OK because the right people own them.

People who smoke cigarettes for example tend to smoke around 20 every day, compared with marijuana smokers whom I believe do not smoke 20 joints every day. Its clearly more dangerous the amount of smoke you get in your lungs from smoking tobacco than Marijuana, aside from that what tobacco contains is pretty damn dangerous compared with anything. I quit smoking 3 years ago now, very happy about that(it ruined a promising sporting career).

Alcohol is just simply poison which affect the nerve system, as compared to the most popular drugs which are plants... Marijuana, coca and opium..

Do you think if they allowed coca plant in the west it would be less attractive to use the synthesized version cocaine? Or would everyone just make cocaine of it?

edit. smoking is SO ****ing dangerous!

If they legalized drugs in the U.S., some people might try to refine the coco plant, but the vast majority probably not.
Drug company's would start production runs and you would get better quality and less hazardous waste dumped in places it shouldn't be disposed of.
Alcohol and tobacco would take a hit.
