This guy on a flight lost his shit because he didn't get the right meal. He charged at flight attendants and tried to break into the cockpit.

He made such a scene the flight had to be turned around half-way through an eight hour trip.

But he was released without charges! I don't get it.

I can’t believe that there were no passengers who would step up…….ut of 300!

The first flight I took when the skies reopened after 9/11 was from Winnipeg to Edmonton. The Winnipeg Blue Bombers were on board. I knew it would be a safe trip!

You could not get me on an airplane these days for love or money.

They need to do something about these clowns. This guy should have a lifetime flying ban.

I bet he was Canadian.

OK, maybe dumb question, but if they were half way there, why did they inconvenience 299 passengers and return to NY?

Most passengers were probably not in a position to do anything in the first place, but beyond that, it's not natural for people to confront strangers having a total meltdown in what is supposed to be a civil setting. People were hoping the flight crew would deal with it, I'm guessing. That would be my default as well.

I had airplane meals on an overseas flight in the twenty teens. It reminded me of what you got on domestic flights in the 80s. The meals were good, and no assholes freaked out. If you act like an asshole on a flight, you can expect to be filmed and then be famous for all of the wrong reasons, so don't do that.

Flying sucks ass, and it's like being in a sardine can now. Much different than when I was a kid. Have a couple drinks and shut the **** up. Sit there and watch a documentary or listen to an audiobook and wait for it to be over.

He will be prosecuted under US federal law. He also likely earned himself an entry on a no-fly list and he might even have his passport revoked. That meal must have been something special

I suppose I have no right these days to be commenting. I've been grounded for many years. Plus I only flew commercial birds for a short time way back, BUT I have to be very honest; if I had a situation like that many years ago I would have knocked the fella out. I still know how to do that without death being a worry. Not nice and not clean, but safe for all, especially me. On the other hand, back in the day, we didn't have those fancy lock systems on the flight deck and maybe a pilot isn't allowed to open the flight deck to go out and check what's going on. Maybe they have frying pans of some sort in the galley? Bop the fella over the head. Whatever you do, it can't be a struggle thing as that could hurt an innocent. Maybe cabin crew should have one of those stun gun things?

If only I had known that I could do this . . .

No excuse for Lufthansa’s mystery meat (and least I thought it might be meat — I didn’t pursue the taste test).

I flew Emirates first class once. You know who has never had a meal meltdown? Emirates first class passengers.

Apologies! I should have read that article. Something doesn't make sense about that business!! Something is missing!!!

EDIT: I'd start with that bit about trying to break into the cockpit. That could be some extra wording to make the story cool. The addition of at least two others, one a baby, also has me wondering. Seriously, something isn't adding up to *It makes sense.* EDIT #2: Seems the article writer used "barge" as in trying to barge into the cockpit. My mistake, I thought that "break into" was from the article. I'm messing up too much here. But the details of the story are odd.

Before I die I will pay the extra cost for this. I've already started spending an extra $40-100 to fly business class on domestic flights. It's worth it.

For some their sense of entitlement/self-importance preclude that option.
An airplane is a toxic psychological environment if you pick up on vibes like I do. Now that they are forcing everyone to be onsite again, work is getting like that, too. An airplane is worse vibes, though, because you can't put distance between you and the other people. When everyone around me is annoyed, upset, or scared, it drains the shit out of me. I think that I might Ativan myself next time. I don't like pills, though.

Make it a short haul. Emirates first class from NYC is 15k. I did Beijing to Bangkok. You go through security in Emirates lounge, have a couple of drinks then get on a little bus that takes you right to the plane. It's airport heaven.

That's a great deal.

When we fly to Europe we do the longest leg business class. It's just saner and I can sleep.
