I guess it's whatever the packager grabs. Needed a special switch in black for a job ASAP. Not an in stock anywhere. That's an Amazon speciality in a pinch.
No complaint on "you need it, we got you!" Years ago, weeks...

Wife brings in, "what did you order?"

"Nothing that needed a 9x6x6 box. It's a tiny remote switch."

Why not a small paper envelope like many other things? No, a box with crumpled paper, when you could step on the damn thing without hurting it.
About 3x5 and might touch a half inch thick in packaging. The box is more than the product.

This is one package that could be thrown around and survive! You could frisbee it to my porch. And its in the bottom of the box subject to damage.
Maybe something to do with a battery, hence the sticker? But it's a button cell, not lithium.

So much for minimal packaging.

Yeah, I dunno. Some things come packed in one box, some things come in a bubble envelope, some come a little thing in a good size box like you showed. It never makes much rhyme or reason to me. Doesn't matter though. I burn all that shit.

Amazon packaging is wild.

Order a delicate sweater or lightbulbs? They’ll send it in a flimsy plastic bag.

Order shoes that are IN a box? They’ll put that box inside another box that is 3 sizes too big and then cram in a bunch of filler so that it doesn’t shake around?

But…they’ll tell you that their driver is 3 streets away and will arrive at your house in 7.5 minutes 😂

Same here. Carbon footprint or landfill. What do we do!

But I do peel off 'plastic' packing tape. Not that what the cardboard is comprised of is any better.

But Amazon seems 'whatever I grab the fastest'.

I think it is the 'shake factor'. We can't have things shifting that weigh an ounce in a moving vehicle!
Wrap in in 2 wraps of brown tape with a delivery sticker, done. ;)

My live in mother marvels at being able to look at her tablet and look out the window for a delivery.
I'm amazed as well from when i waited 6-8 weeks for my UPC Ghostbusters frisbee in the 80s.🤣

2025. Not flying my car yet though.

Popular Mechanics, damn you! You said it would be so!

Same.

I expected flying cars and better robots.

Stupid Jetsons set my expectations way too high 😂
Where's my Rosie! And not the palm! 🤣

I remember reading paper mags from the late 80s give or take about 'the future!'

We're about 20 years or more past that dream.

If only... But no, we just get delivery to your door via tech.

I'll accept it I guess.:)
