A Thread Dedicated to All Things, Australia.

I am impressed by Australia as "UnFree" vs Free or Not Free.
Deficient of a comprehension of FREEDOM.
Such as allowing the persistence of a crime to "refuse to vote".
And a Chief Executive, Prime Minister, limited to the oldest, most bought politician of each party with a majority in Parliament.
In :2usflag: that would mean no Jackson, Lincoln, either Roosevelt, Eisenhower, etc.
All not senior members of the legislative branch of government within their own party.
AND AUSTRALIA WAS GRANTED FREEDOM,
NEVER FOUGHT FOR IT.

First up for All Things, Australia
that is totally mystifying

Australia offers safe haven to Hong Kongers, sparking China fury

Australia offers safe haven to Hong Kongers,
sparking China fury

Australia offered pathways to permanent residency for thousands of people from Hong Kong on Thursday in response to China's crackdown on dissent, drawing a furious reply from Beijing.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison said his government was suspending its extradition agreement with the city and, in addition to extending the visas of 10,000 Hong Kongers already in the country, threw open the door to thousands more wanting to start a new life Down Under.

Morrison said the decisions were taken in response to China's imposition last week of a tough new security law in Hong Kong, which he said "constitutes a fundamental change of circumstances" for the semi-autonomous territory.

"Australia is adjusting its laws, our sovereign laws, our sovereign immigration programme, things that we have responsibility for and jurisdiction over, to reflect the changes that we're seeing take place there," he said during a press conference.

Beijing shot back, condemning the Australian announcements as violations of "fundamental principles of international relations".

"China... reserves the right to take further reactions, all consequences will be borne by Australia," warned Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian. . . .

Question.
Why did Australia do it? Really.

Morrison said Australia wants to attract talented people leaving Hong Kong such as bankers and engineers because the country suffers from a chronic skill shortage. Hong Kongers can speak English fluently and they can be good Aussie citizens if they choose to migrate to Australia. But the underlying cause is the recent tensions between Communist China and freedom-loving Australia. Attacking China's policies toward Hong Kong is part of the diplomatic spat between them. China warned its students and travellers to stay away from Australia due to the spike in racist incidents targeting ethnic Chinese people who are at increased risk of racism in Australia.

A group of Adelaide residents — mostly mums, dads and international students communicating through the Chinese social media platform WeChat — wanted to organise a protest against something they were hearing a lot about in their own circles: racism and discrimination.

It's an issue that has anecdotally seen something of a rise during the coronavirus pandemic. When the ABC put a call out for people to share their stories of either witnessing or experiencing a racist incident, it received hundreds of responses.

It's a problem that has not gone unnoticed by Beijing, which has in recent weeks put travel warnings in place advising its citizens that they are at increased risk of racism in Australia.

Some political observers, and some students themselves, say these travel advisories have little to do with the actual level of racist behaviour in Australia, and more to do with the continuing deterioration of ties between Canberra and Beijing.

Shame on Australia
Only $0.75 on the 🇺🇸 dollar.

AUD/USD is currently trying to settle below the support at 0.7535 while the U.S. dollar is gaining some ground against a broad basket of currencies.

Bad news for
USA

Propping up the USA dollar makes importing
USA goods more expensive and less likely.
Not good for the USA economy.

Thanks Australia.
And China too.

And all others in that broad basket of currencies
voraciously nursing on the USA economy at whose expense!

Oy, you're supposed to pissing on Canada. That's your pathetic, self-imposed vocation. Leave the ANZACs out of it you bigoted xenophobe. You're just miffed that you live in a "shit-hole country" which could be the best place on Earth to live in, if only folks like yourself could pull your heads out of your arses for a few decades and do something about it. Get back to whining about Canada, for it amuses me and keeps you from doing any real harm. And yes, this an ad hominem attack. Some peoples' children!

Be well.
