"Hannity & Colmes" losing half its roster - Carlsbad Current-Argus
NEW YORK — Alan Colmes of Fox News Channel's "Hannity & Colmes" said Monday that he'll be leaving the prime -time show after 12 years. He'll continue as a commentator on Fox programs and keep doing his radio show. He's also developing a weekend show at Fox.

"We have a Democratic House, Senate and president," said Colmes, left. "My work is done."

Colmes said he approached an executive at Fox this year about wanting to try something different. He said he was "looking forward to having dinner with my wife a couple of times a week."

No decision has been made on who will replace Colmes. Hannity has recently signed a contract extension and also does a solo weekend show at Fox. The Associated Press

Actually it has since been announced that no one will take his place. Hannity will go it alone.

This means the show will be biased towards centrists.

I was kind of assuming Kirsten Powers would take Alan's place. She doesn't annoy me.

Alan also said that it he was leaving being great friends with Sean after arguing for so many years.

n a statement, Hannity said, "Not only has Alan been a remarkable co-host, he's been a great friend, which is rare in this industry - I'll genuinely miss sparring with such a skillful debate partner."

Oh good someone posted this. Now we can lean back and watch people start calling Colmes the token lib of Fox and of course I have it on good authority that he was really just a convenient lapdog of Murdoch's anyway.:doh

Then here you go.

Colmes was a puppet. He didn't do anything, he hardly argued; he only spoke up when someone pulled his cord. A useless debater with no spine. It was always the Hannity show, and now it's just official. Hannity would never get an opposing view that could competently argue and not take his lines on cue. That show sucks anyway. I have a hard time figuring out which is the worst, most worthless show on Fox; Hannity and Colmes (now just Hannity) or O'Riley.

I think we should put Keith Olbermann on with Hannity and see if the two mutually annihilate.

Awwww... they're breaking up. Who gets the studio? :rofl

I think Hannity is gettting custody of Steve Doocy and Colmes gets Brian Kilmeade. ;)

This is God's way of balancing out Ann Colture's jaw being wired shut.

That's why I wanted Kirstin Powers to replace Alan. Very often she is right about an issue and makes it clear to the audience that she is right. Alan wasn't good at that.

That's why Alan was picked. It was no accident.

All he seemed to do was repeat the party talking points. Kirsten can explain exactly why we should feel a certain way about an issue. And she's always respectful.

She was sorta awful when she started with O'Reilly and very quickly became a stand out.

She's from Alaska. She worked for the Clinton Administration, the DNC, and AOL. She writes a column for the New York Post.

Yeah, she didn't impress me with O'Reilly. It was obvious that she was not allowed to push back as hard as he pushed. She is attractive though.

It's so funny that everybody has to be a blonde at Fox. Do you remember Kiran Chetry that everybody liked but joked that she wasn't a blonde? and then next thing she leaves FOX and is a hit at CNN. She just didn't fit in at Fox. LOL

She is hot!

It reminds me of a Presidential candidate that only surrounded himself with pageant queens.

OK, John McCain surrounding himself with beauty queen, Sarah Palin.

Fred Thompson had a close staffer who was a former beauty queen.

Did Donald Trump run?

Somehow I'm thinking Giuliani now.

Don't forget McCain's wives.

Colmes is a big ***** anyway. Good riddens you spineless left-nutted pusspot.

I am kind of sad they're not replacing Colmes. While it was essentially Hannity's show and Colmes mostly shut up, he did help to give it a feel that it was at least attempting to present both sides and made the conservative guests answer at least some decent questions. Was he the guy with the most backbone on the show? Not at all, but it at least created an interesting dichotomy that won't be there now. Though not a huge loss, the show bores me to death anyways

I predict that viewership will drop without a foil for Hannity. I too thought (hoped...!) Kirsten would take his place. Maybe there'll be a roster of liberals which would inlude Kirsten.

I did like Colmes because he presented all the arguments that the broader public doesn't get to hear. The Left needs some exposure to its agenda, and he gave it to the public. The MSM is a stealth form of editorializing all news as opinion. We need to hear their opinions verbalized as Allen did. I liked his politeness too.

Maybe they thought it would be cheaper to hire an actual man made of straw?

Colmes and Hannity are about equal in debating skills. While Hannity argues "my side", I get angrier at Hannity for weak arguments than I do Colmes. It is a good show, and I'll miss Colmes. It is entertainment, don't forget. A good pair-up would be Mark Steyne and Peter Beinart, but these two would be too intellectual, civilized, and subtle for the masses.

...

My view is exactly opposite why they picked a woman to be the next liberal/Democratic voice on FOX.

The potential for a woman president or VP can ONLY come through Republicans. Therefore, if the women's voice is defined as Democratic, the old white men of the media and press can continue to keep women out of the White House as they have done for for over 200 years. She was picked to insure that it would be a woman's voice attacking any Republican female presidential or VP candidate. We that it will only be two men running for re-election on the Democratic side.
