That is shocking and sad. The people in this state are actively reducing their population over a political concern.

However, the article title also has a bit of an inaccuracy since its COVID+all other causes of death > number of births

We are, once again, confronted by either criminally stupidity or criminal deceit by our media.

Either way, our media is, once again, exposed as being criminally misleading and liable for the damages it creates.

Something needs to be done to restrain these either moronic idiots or dangerously propagandistic liars who deceive as a daily practice in their deceitful and erroneous malpractice.

There should be a law that allows civil law suits to be brought against idiots who publish or broadcast distortions like this.

I can't believe you posted that after not saying a word about all the Republican media assholes who who have promoted things that make Americans not get vaccinated and not wear masks.

This might be your most hypocritical post ever.

No one ever accused Alabama of being smart.

Thankfully, DP has an ignore button. Maybe you should use it.

NYT says Alabama only has 13,000 Covid deaths, huge discrepancy

13,209 to be exact. Only CA and TX have anywhere near 64,000 deaths, which makes sense since those states are huge.

Uhh, sure thing buddy.

Do you have a point here or do you simply not like the information itself?

Is that the truth though? here is the headline of the article you posted "COVID-19 deaths surpass births"
In your own words, what does the bottom sentence of what I wrote in the OP say?

Seems we all agree that the article was either ignorant of reality and/or intentionally deceitful, right?
I agree, it was lazy reporting and should have been worded differently, but I do not agree it was ignorant or intentionally deceitful.

You wrote the title of the thread, correct?

"COVID-19 deaths surpass births"

Those are your words, are they the truth or a lie?
I stuck with the breaking news guidelines for this subforum as I believe is the rules. The title is the article title.

However, on review, this does not have the newly famous purple bar so there would have been room for me to change the title.

Whether you wrote the lie or posted an article that has lie as a headline is only of minor difference. You introduced the fake news to the forum. Even taking what the health official meant all deaths exceeded births in Alabama in 2020 says more about the birth rate than it does COVID.

That is a laughable and paranoid accusation, but I am sure it makes you feel good. The simple fact is, I already pointed out the lazy reporting well before you even noticed the thread.

Birth rates are down because its becoming too expensive to have a child. This trend has been around for several years.

So your defense is that you knowingly posted a false article and somehow that make me paranoid?

It's happening is all developed countries, can't blame it on wealth inequality

No surprise here

Ignorant would be Republics, since 20 of 22 high-rate COVID states are led by them.

Yes, because the article itself is not false, it just has a bit of lazy reporting. I suspect you never bothered to actual review the article (or else you would have known it was a video)

Highlighting added by me but points out that the concerns are mainly financial.

Alabama is, if nothing else, consistent.

You do know that the forum rules require that you use the actual lede from the actual article cited, don't you?

The OP did point out that the actual lede was incorrect.

You have a problem with

[1] the forum rules
and/or
[2] people correcting misstatements made in articles?

Why?

I have problem with people knowingly posting flase information.

You are defending fake news.

How is he defending fake news. He correctly pointed out that the title of the news article was somewhat misleading, because it was regular deaths plus covid deaths that made sure there were more deaths the births in alabama.
