I'm not into Folk music but this story intrigued me:
www.bbc.com
Personally think this is appalling, including where dead artists have "new material" added to their catalogues and then unsuspecting listeners either praise it as genuine or worse still - buy it.
Funny how we recognise this as theft but not when visual artists and illustrators have their work used and resold by people using AI to generate revenue.
And here's the key:
Last month, award-winning singer Emily Portman got a message from a fan praising
her new album and saying "English folk music is in good hands".
That would normally be a compliment, but the Sheffield-based artist was puzzled.
So she followed a link the fan had posted and was taken to what appeared to be her latest release.
"But I didn't recognise it because I hadn't released a new album," Portman says.

she suspects independent artists are being targeted because star names have
more protection and more power to get fraudulent releases removed swiftly.
