"I will be watching all the hearings... and I can assure you all the January 6 PROSECUTORS are watching all the hearings as well" US AG Merrick Garland

I think it's interesting he felt the need to add that the prosecutors are watching when he wasn't asked about them, only himself.

Warms me heart!

(CUE Dragnet theme song, dum de dum dum...dum de dum dum dahhhhh )

Hah!!

They had a very successful lawyer on CNN this morning explaining in detail the probable reasons why Garland has not brought charges yet on Trump. He clearly stated that what needs to be "proven" is that Trump actually "knew" that the election was not stolen and proceeded with the lie with the express intent of defrauding the rights of the people for his own benefit.

That is a very difficult thing to prove as a person can easily believe their own lies and believing the lie is not criminal or prosecutable.

The hearings that are going on now are having some success in proving that he did know as everyone around him (his "own people") have clearly stated that everyone told him that it did not happen. As such, these hearings (as they are going along right now) are giving Garland ammunition and there are still 4 more hearings to go, meaning that at the end of them, Garland might just pull the trigger and prosecute Trump.

AG Barr and a number of prominent insiders told him is was bullshit.

I think they have enough to prove it. That plus the fact that he has a history of deception, i.e., fake university, fake charity, paying $250k hush money, bank and insurance fraud, etc., and so this idea that he 'sincerely believed it', as if this man could ever be sincere about anything, wouldn't wash with me if I were on the jury.

Anyway, With that kind of advice and that kind of evidence against his character, I think they can go forward with prosecution. He has a responsibility as President to heed the advice given, rather than listen to drunken Giuliani.

But that's not the only charge they can pursue, there are many other potential charges

He's in the big league now and must be held to the highest standard, as commander-in-chief. You don't get to play dumb.

A bunch of insiders also told him that the investigation into his connections to Russia were legitimate. It wasn't. Schiff told EVERYONE that Trump's motivation for talking to Zelensky was campaign related. It wasn't. After all the lies everyone told about Trump why would he POSSIBLY believe that the election was legitimate?

We should remember that it is Justice Department policy not to indict a sitting president. This is why Mueller didn't pursue Trump personally. Always remember Mueller specifically said:

"As set forth in the report, after the investigation, if we had confidence that the president did not clearly commit a crime, we would have said so."

They didn't say so. The Mueller Report did not clear the president according to Mueller.

Of course, if the republicans win the House and go after Biden, that policy will be under assault.

I think you got your facts wrong. Trump's motivation in talking to Zelenski was campaign related (he wanted Zelenski to say that Hunter Biden was being investigated by them) and the investigations into connections of Trump to Russia were legitimate (lots of proof of connections there - that I have produced on many occasions).

None of Trump's own people told him any different with Zelenski and the investigations into the Russian connections but all of them told him the election was NOT stolen, meaning he had no reason not to believe them.

Probably because the committee chair said that they won’t be making any referrals to the DOJ.

Non sequitur. One does not follow the other.

What was Trump’s motivation for talking to Zelensky?

What was Trump’s motivation for talking to Zelensky?
Getting assurances that he was really going to focus on the political corruption in his nation.

God, such stupid bullshit. He wants to gaslight us into thinking that Trump called up Zelensky after unlawfully withholding military aid to demand "favors", namely, announcement of sham investigations into Hunter Biden but this wasn't related to his campaign against Joe Biden.

A bunch of insiders also told him that the investigation into his connections to Russia were legitimate. It wasn't.

Yeah ok, kegger guy. I swear, you'll tell any lie. You have to. You'd implode from shame if you had to admit fault.

The fact that a dangerous felon, con man, and traitor like Trump is still walking around loose on the streets is shocking.

We all know the law may be slow. But here's to hoping it's not stupid.

He either knew it was a free and fair election and manufactured the lie to stay in power...or he is delusional. Either way how people can still stick with this guy is unbelievable. They too are either liars or delusional.

I agree with you but then again, Trump is just "one" person and the amount of damage "one" person can do is limited. What worries me the most is the 40 million Trump supporters that blindly believe him and that were willing to invade the Capitol and generate a coup insurrection. Those are the people that need to be stopped as they are a big number than could have a big effect on our country.

Is there any way we can build a huge jail area where 40 million crazy people can be instituted and not allowed to mingle/walk around with anyone outside of the jailed area?

Perhaps we can follow one of Trump's ideas and build a wall all around Texas and put all the Republicans there and have the United States become 51 States (instead of 52) and have Texas be the Republican home for the rest of their lives. Already Texas has a population of 30 million so putting 40 million there would not be much of a problem. That way, they could address the illegal immigration (much of which comes through Texas), have all the abortion rules they want in place and not have to find someone to run the State given they have the perfect man in Abbot for the Republicans to follow. Good idea?

Haha. Interesting idea.

But Trump is like the jerk who spooked the herd and started a dangerous and destructive stampede. These people just get spooked by dangerous sounds like "socialism" and "libruls". It's hard to hold them accountable. But the guy who deliberately gets them spooked needs to be held accountable.

His own people told him so.

Did he recruit liars? His own AG? His own campaign staff? His own lawyers? His own appointed judges? His own daughter? All of them lying to him?

1. the whataboutism, as usual, is completely irrelevant to this matter.
2. The investigation into the connections between his campaign staff and Russia was very legitimate. With over 100 contacts, had he not been investigated, there would have been an investigation on NSA malfeasance.
3. Adam Schiff was correct that Trump's motivation on his contact with Zelensky was indeed campaign related. I think you are confusing the results of an impeachment, a political process, with truth. Impeachments well document for history, facts and truths, but the outcome of the impeachment means very little.

If nearly ALL of his advisers told him the election was clear of material fraud and Trump still believes such, the man should be immediately removed from office under the 25th amendment as he would be sufficiently delusional that he would be unfit for office. The records show that he actually knew he lost, but did not care. He just wanted to remain in power regardless of the cost to America. (more evidence that he was unfit to be President)

Like Trump, you can deny the truth, but that does not make the truth disappear.

Walk away from Trump. You are defending the indefensible at the expense of your soul and your credibility.

Trump’s pressuring Zelensky to publicly announce an investigation into Hunter Biden and Burisma on the same day Joe Biden announced he was running for President is no coincidence.

Only the dumbest of dumbasses wouldn’t recognize Trump’s pressuring of Zelensky for anything other than what it was, abusing the authority of his office for personal political gain.
It wasn't. After all the lies everyone told about Trump why would he POSSIBLY believe that the election was legitimate?
The AG told Trump that he lost, repeatedly. His own campaign manager told Trump that he lost. The head of CISA said that the election was the “most secure in American history”, but Trump chose to listen to Rudy, Powell, and others that told him what he wanted to hear.

The fact that you even ask this question shows how doomed our democracy is.

Judy Garland better be worried about the flub up over the Larry Nassar investigation. That's got the potential to be costly.

Good observation.

Garland is an absolute moron whose life goal is to put school board attending parents of school children into federal prison for life under RICO.

Coming up on the one year anniversary of those two poor 14 year old girls who were brutally raped by a he-she in the girl's bathroom at their new high school in Louden County, VA.

The father of the one girl was told to shut up so as not to ruin gay pride month celebrations. Very nice to see that democrats have their priorities straight.

What a jackass.

do you realize how much sane people are laughing at you "adults" who were taken by on old, obvious con man?

Oh my....
