After Crimea, Muscovites Say They Want Alaska Back

The pity of it, is that Russia doesn't have anything that the USA wants.
Kamchatka ? Chukotka ?

A total waste of a thread.

If you have something to say, make your point.

i dont do propaganda, just inform you guys om the subject about which i know much more than most of you here

Yes you do propaganda....

Constantly. Your pictures, cartoons and name calling are all propaganda tools. As is your insistence in not calling the RUSSIAN FEDERATION by its real name. And you insist on calling RUSSIANS Mongels.

so guys what do you think ? any chance for Moscow ´s territorial expansion in America ?

"After Crimea, Muscovites Say They Want Alaska Back

In modern-day Alaska, Russia's recent annexation of Crimea is being viewed through the lens of U.S. foreign policy and has not been perceived as a local issue, according to Jane Haigh, assistant professor of history at Kenai Peninsula College of the University of Alaska Anchorage.

"The annexation of Crimea has not been perceived as a potential threat to Alaska — it has not been thought of in those terms," Haigh said in a telephone interview. "Many people here are not actively aware that their state used to be Russian territory. This history is taught, of course, but awareness of the Russian past is rather low and most often localized in areas where there are Russian Orthodox churches or monasteries."

Alaska is home to more than 30 Russian Orthodox churches, six of which are U.S. National Historical Landmarks. These remnants of the state's Russian history may offer Russia, or at least Russia's most popular faith, the best chance of reclaiming portions of Alaskan territory.

You think that is Bad, some people may believe the former Holy Roman Empire shoudl be reconstituted and all their former territories should be given back so we can be more holy and more moral as a result.

I don't know. I still say give the Russians Baked Alaska and call it a day.

Russia isn't that stupid.

(But then, if any President would let them get away with it, it would be Biden.)

Russia will have to get in line behind China.

Litwin needs Putin to pull up a map for him. He doesnt do geography.

Given Litwin's penchant for not living in the modern world, he probably is one of those folks that believe that.

I don’t think we need to worry about this. Worst come to worst, we can always pull Sarah Palin off moose duty and have her take out the Russians.

Or if Trump was still President. Trump and Putin are buddies after all.

Ukraine/Azerbaljan/Moldova/Georgia = Alaska for all Muscovite imperialists

No, they don't equate to Alaska.

Ukraine/Azerbaljan/Moldova/Georgia = NATIONS

Alaska = A STATE BELONGING TO THE UNITED STATES

Ukraine/Azerbaljan/Moldova/Georgia = Second rate military

US = NUCLEAR POWER

Do they want it? Yes.

So what?

Russians are not ever getting alaska back unless america willingly trades it back. People should just look at history, russia used to own alaska, the western parts of canada washington oregon and northern california. Well what happened? Oh yeah russians believe in might makes right, and logistically they could not support might so far away from russia, so they started selling off territories to avoid the spanish just taking them.

Alaska was the last one sold and also the closest to russia, part of the reason it was sold was they already raped the land for every dollar they could make off the fur trade, but the biggest reason was not only was the russia navy a brown water navy, but alaska was near cold water ports, meaning naval defense of alaska would have been near impossible, and with fear that either the united states or britain was going to take alaska, russia decided to sell while they could in direct fears either of those 2 nations was going to take it and russia was going to walk away empty handed.

In the end russia practiced what it preached, it took alaska down to california when it was lightly or even unpopulated, but walked back when the spanish kept moving north, and kept abandoning territory they could not hold until they retreated to their mainland which they could easily hold. Even to this day russia is a land power not a sea power, they project might over land rather than sea, and they are not likely to take anything that requires their navy to defend too far from russian shores.
