You might be surprised that the service was still operating. I’m not. At last count, a 2019 US census estimated that 265,000 people in the United States were still using dial-up internet,
To imagine going back to those speeds...
Such a great sound though. I may set a dial up modem ringtone in remembrance.

When I first logged in, it was a toll call and connected me at a blazing 2400 baud………..


 
Now there's a blast from the past!
Hell, I thought it was in the past! But I guess there were still people in the sticks with no other option, or those that didn't mind clicking something, going doing chores or whatever and coming back to see if it has loaded.
 
There was a time those discs were valuable because they paid for years of internet for free. I had a sizable collection, before I switched to a real ISP. Then I had a sizable coaster collection.
