Why did they join the Republicans, when so many more Republicans voted for the Civil Rights Bill?
After that, the GOP journeyed further into the abyss under Nixon. It is true that most Republicans in 1964 held vastly more liberal positions on civil rights than Goldwater. This strikes Williamson as proof of the idiosyncratic and isolated quality of Goldwater’s civil rights stance. What it actually shows is that conservatives had not yet gained control of the Republican Party.
But conservative Republicans — those represented politically by Goldwater, and intellectually by William F. Buckley and National Review — did oppose the civil rights movement. Buckley wrote frankly about his endorsement of white supremacy: “the White community in the South is entitled to take such measures as are necessary to prevail, politically and culturally, in areas in which it does not predominate numerically.” More often conservatives argued on grounds of states’ rights, or freedom of property, or that civil rights leaders were annoying hypocrites, or that they had undermined respect for the law.

That's the reason LBJ pushed the CRB...it was the best way to keep blacks under control.
The Republican party slowly shifted to become the anti-civil Rights Party. It began with Barry Goldwater, and then quickly evolved with William Buckley pushing conservatives to the forefront of the party, primarily via his writings in the National Review.

One argument is the Jews pushed for integration and the elimination of Jim Crow laws so that they could sell to Blacks in their department stores instead of segregated Blacks shopping exclusively at Black-owned businesses. Many people argue, not necessarily in error, that desegregation harmed Black entrepreneurs. Of course, the fact that Southern Whites dressed in sheets burned crosses on lawns and lynched Blacks who ran successful, competing businesses didn't help either.

So, segregation in Mississippi was somehow better than living in a ghetto in South Philly? No, your wrong...again.
The narrative from the left who has no evidence whats so ever is that the GOP is a anti-civil rights party.
Its part of the same narrative thats torn apart the black community and hped create places like Detroit, South Chicago and New Orleans Housing projects.
And you guys are still corrupt enough to use the false narrative after all of the evidence exist that shows what your policies have done.
Kind of a special place in hell sort of thing here..
I was being facetious while making a point. The Jews, huh?
Another racist Leftist. It's just incredible!
Aside from the obvious moral issues, institutionalized racism was bad for business. The foundation of America’s economic greatness has always been free people making free choices in a free market system. Today, as some of the more-liberal Northern governments are piling new restrictions on businesses, the business climate in the old South looks more and more inviting to entrepreneurs and workers of all races. The recent rate of growth of Southern-based companies gives testament to the advantages of a true free enterprise system.

See , the article makes my point. Institutionalized racism through dependence is bad for bussiness.
I mean , not even you could try and make the connection between less regulations, lower taxes, good economies and jim crowe laws.
If you were you would bmaking the absurd connection that overly regulated and bankrupt liberal states ( plague states ) are better off because Democrats like to lie about not being racist.
No, your wrong...again.

My Awakening: Chapter 18
Jews, Communism and Civil Rights
by David Duke
The following is a Chapter from European American civil rights activist David Duke's ground breaking autobiography, "My Awakening". This chapter helps to shed light on many aspect of the so-called "civil rights" movement that have never before been seen.
...Mattie Smith told me that the Jews had the leading role in the efforts to destroy the very underpinnings of our race and our heritage. I had read that Jews were the leaders of the academic movement promoting the idea that races are equal in their physical and mental abilities. In looking into the foundations of racial egalitarianism, I found that adherents of international Communism pioneered the modern notions of racial equality. In America, Marxist organizations quickly gained ascendancy in the remnants of the old abolitionist movements.

No, you were serious and you made your point well. though perhaps not the one you intended.
Serious in mocking those who blamed the Jews for the Civil Rights movement (read the post). David Duke has been preaching that line for ages. A lot of Southern idiots by it too.
Few serious people would ever quote David Duke.

https://www.commondreams.org/headline/2012/09/07-4What evidence do you have that the GOP became the anti-civil rights party?
The attacks on civil rights that I've seen have come from the Democrats.
"Several state governments are [now] looking to the conservative-leaning supreme court, which has already expressed its doubts about racially-based policy," in order to overturn these rulings. This step would seek to challenge the historic Voter Rights Act of 1965, which gave the federal government some control over voting rules in states with a history of blocking African Americans from voting.
There was also a state... Louisiana I think, where inter-racial marriage was banned according to their constitution... which was first removed barely a few years ago in a referendum... the change only squeaked by.. wtf?
Any chance to find something wrong with America, anything at all; and you are there.

92% of the members of the party of the "Southern Strategy" voted yay for the Civil Rights Bill. Why would racists from the Democrat Party join the Republican party, for racst reasons. See how idiotic that notion is?
So let me get this straight... you are more worried about me pointing out something wrong in America, than you are acknowledging said problem and being critical of said problem....
Let me ask you this.. are you not against such laws as I and others have pointed out? Are you for slavery and segregation? Why is it that you constantly attack people for pointing out bad things that right wingers have done in America, instead of say... hey you know what... you are right, this guy/thing/idea is idiotic and should be changed. Instead you and your fellow bedfellows continue to defend such things till you turn blue in the face.... why is that?
Your proud of your partkes institutionalized dependence and the damage its done to the black family ?
Snore. That is nonsense, just another right-
wing mantra repeated w/o thinking.
But sure, let's hear it for how Republicans have shown so much respect for one particular black man's success, both personally, professionally, and familial!
Guffaw!
Btw, read "The Clinton Wars" and learn how the relentless pursuit to bring Bill Clinton down was rooted in racism.
