I never really heard the term until you used it. To me, people go into fields they are ill equipped for. Decades ago, I saw the push that anyone can be taught anything. In principle, that is true, but the results widely vary. This poses so many questions regarding academia that did not exist when I was that young.

It's the elites' view that people aren't smart enough to do what's in their interests so it's better to have clunky government control. I really think it's fear. If you question something you were taught how much of what you thought is questionable. I understand this fear because I had to face it. I'm glad it did because it led to quite a bit of knowledge and also a huge empty void that can be filled with knowledge.

It's very much like religion. They don't want to think that they might be wrong because if they're wrong about one thing what else are they wrong about it's the fear that everything they believe is a house of cards. That's just not how it works the clergy within the cathedral they benefit from incuriousness

I do believe anybody can be taught anything. But just because I could be taught how to be a good runway fashion model doesn't mean I would be a good runway fashion model.
