Will Trump now support Ukraine militarily and financially, or will he just tell Putin to "stop" in exchange for those minerals?

For those out there that are falling all over themselves believing this proves something, watch the next few days as Russia launches more attacks against Ukraine and watch Trump do nothing about it except to say "stop."

Hmmm... maybe if Trump says please again, Putin will stop bombing your new investment.

Anyone else wonder what Russia's response to America getting so cozy with their next door neighbor will be? They tend to get a little cagey when you guys get too near.

Ukraine needs to rename themselves Trumpland and then the US Military will push Russia completely out.

Don't you just love how Righties fall all over themselves in glee.
Make NO mistake, it Ukraine gets something substantial in return for giving up their minerals to the US, I will be the first to congratulate Trump. But we would need to know the details. Is this strictly a financial arrangement that allows Russia to continue attacking Ukraine? The devil is in the details.

He doesn't need to. Just the fact of an economic interest in Ukraine is all that is needed to stop Russia from attacking Ukraine after a peace deal is signed.

Most likely, as that was always the plan, of course.

Your desire for more war is duly noted. Some of us would rather see politicians making an effort to end wars instead of perpetuate more of them.

Hoping for things to go badly for us in our efforts to end wars is a bizarre position. This approach is working out so well for you guys, so keep it up! :ROFLMAO:

Honestly, I couldn't care less. Everything Trump touches turns to shit, that should be taken for granted by now.

Hell, after the whole "I've been talking to China" / "No, we haven't been talking to him" debacle, I wouldn't be surprised to find out this is total bullshit too. The article only said "reported". That could mean anything, when it comes to this administration.

And then what if Russia refuses to stop attacking? Old "The Art of the Cave" is going to do what, exactly? Start WW3? Curl up in the fetal position under the Resolute desk and suck his thumb? Send more pleading knock off tweets to Putin?

Lol... ****ing maga, man, I swear...

To begin with, the contentious 28 February Oval Office meeting can’t be understood without a crucial piece of context: there are no deposits of rare-earth ore in Ukraine known to be minable in an economically viable way. And that would be true even if full-scale warfare were not raging in the country’s east, where a great deal of its mineral resources are concentrated.

Ukraine is believed to have four areas with substantial deposits of rare earth ores, according to Erik Jonsson, senior geologist with the Geological Survey of Sweden. “There are four slightly bigger deposits: Yastrubetske, Novopoltavske, Azovske, and Mazurivske. All but one of them seem to be now within or near the zone that the Russians control, as far as I can tell,” says Jonsson. “And when it comes to resources in those deposits, I mean, we have numbers; yes, that’s nice. But we have no real, detailed, outline of how those numbers were arrived at.” The numbers are believed to come from Soviet surveys dating as far back as the 1960s.

I don't have to "hope" for anything, you guys are making things go badly voluntarily and enthusiastically. My only concern is the potential rising cost of popcorn.

Lol, who do you think you're fooling? You won't "be the first to congratulate Trump" in any post for a damn thing no matter what happens, and you and the rest of us all know it. Hell, you couldn't even acknowledge that he won the election...your posting disappeared for months after his victory.

As long as it comes with security guarantees. Still an unnecessary shakedown imo.

If it going so badly for us makes it so great for you, then why are you so emotionally invested in our country?

That logic doesn't add up....🤷🏾‍♂️

I'll own it. **** Trump.

That was easy.

International politics has always been about unnecessary shakedowns. Particularly when it comes to one country offering security/military assistance to another country. It's a, "If you want our help, here's what it's gonna cost you" kind of world.

Because you're trying to bankrupt our country. Not much math required at all, bud.

Anything to end this senseless war. There's been enough deaths and destruction on both sides.

So it's not good for you guys or it is good for you guys that Trump is supposedly ****ing things up so badly?

If all you have to worry about is the price of popcorn, then you should be a helluva lot happier than you're demonstrating yourself to be here.

Ukrainian Minister of the Economy Yulia Svyrydenko said in a post on X, "Together with the United States, we are creating the Fund that will attract global investment into our country

This partnership allows the United States to invest alongside Ukraine to unlock Ukraine's growth assets, mobilize American talent, capital and governance standards that will improve Ukraine's investment climate and accelerate Ukraine's economic recovery
Let me know when the war magically ends and perhaps I’ll care.

Otherwise, this looks like a photo op and nothing else.

price of popcorn
The majority of Ukraine's rare earth mineral reserves are located in regions currently under Russian occupation, including Donetsk and Luhansk—which make up the Donbas—as well as Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, and Crimea, the Black Sea peninsula annexed by Putin in 2014.

According to Forbes, approximately 70 percent of Ukraine's estimated $14.8 trillion in critical mineral resources are concentrated in Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, and Luhansk. Russia currently controls a significant portion of the Luhansk and Donetsk regions, collectively known as the Donbas.

It's disheartening to know that whatever tRump does will screw the pooch, line his pockets, and betray the other party to the agreement in some way. The investment tRump speaks of probably includes building prisons in Ukraine to house all the people being deported from the US /s.
