In the early 80s, my wife and I, recently married, lived in El Paso, TX. She had no experience with firearms, so I thought a can plinking session would be fun. She agreed, so we drove out to the country and set up some cans. The only gun I had at that time was the .22 rifle that was my 12th birthday gift.
I reviewed the rules with her and showed her how to aim, shoot and reload the little popgun.
We were in the middle of nowhere. A car with six sketchy looking guys came up the dirt road, slowed and stopped when they saw us. The popgun was leaned up against my vehicle, they couldn't see it.
When all of them got out of the car, I simply picked up the .22, aimed it at the sky, and cycled the bolt to reload it. At no point did I aim the rifle at them. (Rules)
I'll never forget how the expression on their faces changed from a smile to fear.
They got back in the car and took off.
What conclusion did you draw? And what conclusion did you draw from this ?
Apparently enough of a conclusion to warrant your (illegitimate) reply...None at all.

Which was (in your mind) ?
You said "none at all." You must have a very short memory span.

Your post #5, just what, 5 posts above?Explain.
How does "none at all" = "a short memory span" ?
Here is another story from early 80s my uncle told me.
Him and his friends were driving somewhere and got lost. They were all tired and had not seen a soul in a while. Finally, they saw what they thought was a nice couple out in the middle of nowhere. They stopped by. While some of his friends got out to stretch after a long tiring ride, my dad and his friend started heading towards the couple to ask for directions. Then, a guy pulled out a rifle a started shooting. They quickly ran and took off from the two crazies.
And what conclusion did you draw from this ?

Follow the rules.
The rules of gun safety. What "rules" do you speak of ?
The rules of gun safety.
I am convinced that that is why you don't hear of many home invasions in rural areas.
Not only are there guns in the vast majority of the homes, most everyone knows how to use them.
My little sister is a life long vegetarian who in most situations could not take any life, but she can shoot and has guns.
God help anyone who threatens her kids...
And the biggest rule of gun safety is, don't carry or keep a gun.
I assume you're British. We have an old saying here in the US, it goes like this:
When Guns
are Outlawed,
only Outlaws
will have Guns.
True as ever.
Another inescapable gun fact?
Taking guns away from law abiding citizens will accomplish nothing positive.
Not even gonna act surprised.None at all.
Maybe he thought you meant concussion, hell I've looked right at words and thought they were something else.Apparently enough of a conclusion to warrant your (illegitimate) reply...
