I decided to put this in the politics section since covid has become so political instead of us treating it like the health issue it is.

What will it take for you to get vaccinated? How can the rest of us help?

For some people the answer is nothing. They have made the choice and will stick to it no matter what. The way the rest of us can help is to respect their choice even if we disagree and do what we can to protect ourselves and families.

Respecting their choices only makes the problem worse. Until every medically eligible American citizen at least 12 years old is fully vaccinated against the current covid mutation, no herd immunity is possible. I know this because the number of cases did not go down very far and keep trending downward after vaccines became widely available to everyone. Instead, the virus mutated into a vaccine-resistant variant and we saw another spike happen nationwide. Smallpox was eradicated because every person, regardless of political affiliation, education level, socioeconomic status, and religion, was required to get the vaccine. Nobody with a white circle on the upper left arm has any reason to complain about this because none of them got smallpox.

What's to respect? The only thing to respect is the law. If they refuse a legal requirement to vaccinate or wear a mask for public health and safety, they are the one's disrespecting the lives of others, incl society. So, what's to respect? Their right to remain silent.

Their choice is to be respected just as your choice is to be respected. The only person you have control over in this choice is yourself, and underage children if that applies. Aside from that it’s not your choice what others do.

For a lot, it's not political at all. Perhaps it's a risk/benefit scenario - especially when it comes to their kids. Are they more concerned about their kids getting Covid or are they more concerned with the unknown of the Covid vaccine? Unless someone can guarantee 100% there will be no complications arising down the road from this vaccine or any associated booster, many will continue their stance. As time goes by and no long term complications are detected, then I would imagine vaccination rates will increase. If the mortality rate were far higher, then the risk/benefit would flip and they'd take their chances with the unknown.

There is no legal requirement to take the jab.

Smallpox had a mortality rate of around 30% COVID is literally a fraction of that around 3-5%. With the flu around 2%. If you want to compare viruses and the reaction to at least have the honesty to use viruses with similar mortality rates and not one that is close to 10X higher.

What will it take for you to get vaccinated?
Time.

Time will allow the vaccines to go through the appropriate rigors of testing, observation, and broad scientific scrutiny.

Time will tell if the vaccines confirm robust long-term immunity or if endless booster shots and reinnoculations are required.

Time will tell whether vaccination programs have any hope of eradicating COVID-19 and its many variants, which is frankly the only reason I would take the vaccine, since I'm not sufficiently worried about the threat the virus poses to my own health.

I'll reassess my willingness to get jabbed in the latter half of next year.

You could make hell freeze over.

The mortality rate is irrelevant in this case. In the 1950s-1960s people did not have to wear masks. Businesses did not have to close temporarily. Kids did not have to be home schooled. Vacations and special events did not have to be canceled.

For children under age 12, parents don't have a choice. For those ages 12-15: Is the Pfizer vaccine available where they live? Do they know their children have reached the minimum age for the Pfizer vaccine?

Now, if the child is old enough, the parents know that, and the Pfizer vaccine is available, there is absolutely no reason for anyone to reject the vaccine for that child. Everyone knows nothing in medicine is perfect, but both mRNA vaccines have been proven to be 95% effective in millions of people. So anyone who makes the bolded statement is either lying or stupid.

The mortality rate is very much a relevant issue in influencing a persons choice about the vaccine. It’s mind blowing you don’t understand that

Where's that PSA from The Donald promoting his vaccine? The Biden Administration said they were open to his doing so weeks ago.

Not that he needs their permission, I'm sure many media channels would give him air time/space for it.

I'll overlook your emotional outburst. Having said that, there is a reason, and it was very clearly stated in my post. I don't care if you don't accept it. It's my responsibility to do what I believe to best long term for my children. I'd expect no less from you.

I don't respect people actively attempting to usurp a presidential election because a megalomaniac man-child asks them to. So why the hell are people who are endangering the lives of hundred of thousands of Americans worthy of respect? Trump declared himself a, "war time president" which was a rare instance where I agreed with him. Are these people acting like patriots fighting a war defending America or like Benedict Arnold?...

People are anti-vaccine only for covid. Their reasons are conspiracy theories started by Trump the Terrorist. They don't care about the mortality rate.

How many people say nobody should get annual influenza shots because the disease has a low mortality rate? (It is lower than COVID-19.)

If you have to ask then you will never understand the answer.

They are neither fighting to war or acting like a traitor. They are simply making a different choice than you and you seem not to be able to handle it that well.

What does getting the Vaccine have to do with the Fact that this Man Make Biological Weapon has been set loose on humanity ?
Getting an experimental Vaccine is NOT going to make this Virus go away !

You can help by understanding how Viruses work and realizing how meaningless your desire to get people to get the Vaccine is!

Let me help you get started.
Covid Analysis:

If people get vaccinated:
1) That does not remove the virus from existence .
2) It does not stop you from getting sick from the virus.
3) It does not stop you from transmitting/harboring the Virus !
4) It does not create a force field around you so the virus can't live inside you...
5) It does not mean you will not die if you get the virus
6) The Vaccine is still in it's experimental stage, so you are a Guinee pig for big Pharma, and they are not liable ...

If you don't get Vaccinated:
1) You could get sick and die.
2) You could get over it in 4 days and have natural immunities (no mRNA genetic manipulation injected in you !)
3) You might never get the virus
4) Your ability to transmit the virus is the same as the Vaccinated people .

What you believe is the best for your children does not make it right. You can think the best way to punish your children is is kicking them out of the house. Does that mean you should throw them out? Of course not! The same is true for vaccines. Only making your kids get it is the best thing for them unless they are under12 years old. That is a scientifically proven fact. If you don't believe me, explain why the HHS, CDC, NIG, FDA, AMA, and WHO have all said the same thing Pfizer, Moderna, and AstraZeneca did: that if you do not get vaccinated, your chances of getting covid are high now regardless of age.

Risk/benefit is on the side of vaccines by a lot. And no, there is 100% with ANY vaccine. Some people will die from vaccine. Some will have bad consequence. Those numbers are over 1000 times LESS than dying and having health consequences from the virus.

That simply is not true. There are anti vaccine groups for many different things. HPV in teens and the Jenny McCarthy autism crowd jump to mind.
I can not speak for anyone but myself and I am not saying that no one should get the vaccine. I encourage people to get it, but I can also respect their choice not to.

If you have to ask then you will never understand the answer...
So since you didn't address the formerit, can I assume you do respect people actively attempting to usurp the presidential election? If so, what would someone have to do to lose your respect, use the tie-wraps on Pelosi if they had found her? If you don't respect the usurpers, do you believe the people who refuse the vaccines are doing more or less harm to America?

...They are neither fighting to war or acting like a traitor. They are simply making a different choice than you and you seem not to be able to handle it that well.
You're certainly sure right about that...

That has nothing to do with the tread topic. If you want to vent about 1/6 then do so in one of the many threads devoted to it, start a new one, or be an incorrect ASSumer.
You're certainly sure right about that...
Then that is a personal issue you need to work on
