A potential judicial nomination that is too much for even the likes of Ed Whelan

Ed Whelan is a conservative commentator who, among other things, writes the Bench Memos column for National Review. His conservative credentials are beyond reproach.

But even he finds this potential Trump nominee for the Third Circuit unacceptable.

Emil Bove is essentially a Trump hatchet man.

Hopefully somebody derails this nomination before it happens.

Whelan makes a good point. If Trump makes this nomination, it could cause incumbent Circuit Judges NOT to retire during Trump's term.

Looks like he's already done it.

The actual nomination cannot occur until next week, since the Senate is not in session this week.

It will probably formally be transmitted to the Senate either Tuesday or Wednesday of next week.

Then formally ratified in a formality.

Glad to see Ed Whelan has the manhood to stand up to Trump in regards to this stupid nomination.

And I hope the Senate defeats it. Bove has no business anywhere NEAR any judicial seat on any court in the land.

Whelan details Bove's many flaws in the linked post.

And again, Whelan is an arch-conservative and has a long history of supporting Trump's judicial nominees, which makes his opposition to this nominee all the more compelling.

The guy looks like Roy Cohn. No wonder Trump likes him.

A yes, Democrats keep Borking alive and well in their hands.

Trump is a mob boss.

He's going to nominate whomever is best for him. Not for the country.
