Police showed up. Ordered him not to go back in to try to put it out. He refused. They tased him and his son, apparently beat him, arrested them on various charges, lied about them attacking police. Sent to grand jury to charge them. Grand jury watched the footage, charges dismissed, the police officer was charged with assault.

I suspect, incidentally, that the cop had some instinct the guy might be concealing evidence from a homemade bomb or a meth lab, and that's why he was being so obnoxious. But you can't let suspicion lead to doing overt harm yourself! The jury will have an interesting job sorting out the charges.
