'A gamechanger': this simple device could help fight the war on abortion rights in the US

I don't only look it from that point of view. These things are only effectively discussed when the reasoning is narrowly contrued. I was
replying only to the point made about ending up in the justice system.

And can you respond directly to the questions I politely asked in my post? It would certainly reinforce what you've written here .

So you just posted a bunch of 'na huh'...and no counter argument...because as usual, you dont have one. Not a legal, practical, nor moral one. Nothing new at all.
Your ideology is based on presuppositions I reject
Nope, it's a matter that's clearly Constitutional, and changing that is more than 'merely' legislation.
It’s not constitutional. Roe is gone. I’m not pretending anymore
Why has no state yet made having an abortion a criminal act?
Probably for practical political reasons. There’s nothing wrong with imposing moderate abortion restrictions then simply ratcheting tighter every couple of years

I am not going to argue your likely fictional tales

Your ideology is based on presuppositions I reject

Mine is based on facts, the law, etc. That you reject it only strengthens its legitimacy. Your ideology promotes hate, misogyny, and marital rape.

It’s not constitutional. Roe is gone. I’m not pretending anymore

All the things I listed ARE Constitutional. LMAO...did you ignore it for the convenience of your argument OR do you really not understand? Which is it?

Probably for practical political reasons. There’s nothing wrong with imposing moderate abortion restrictions then simply ratcheting tighter every couple of years

?? What's stopping them now? 6 weeks is not remotely 'moderate'. What's stopping them now?

It seems to me that it is not a zero sum game; if one has a life the other does not. If a woman bears a child and gives the child up
for adoption, how does it follow that the woman will have no life. I guess I don't get it.

So it is better that the baby not have a chance at life because they MAY grow up angry.
That's for the woman to decide.
I thought that's what life was all about,
overcoming obstacles, rising above a bad upbringing, etc.
Nope. Life throws obstacles in our way. But most people would probably prefer to have none and enjoy life, live it up, ect.. Then there are those who cannot overcome obstacles. As the old saying goes, "life's a bitch and then you die."

That 9 months of sickness, loss of work etc...all the things I listed are also encompassed in that 9 months and may never be recovered. Like opportunities lost, job lost, obligations not kept to others, committments dropped, etc. Only the woman knows her risks and circumstances...right? So that decision on what will be destroyed, harmed, disrupted, lost...isnt that up to her to recognize?

And so just going thru all that, just to give it up for adoption? It's still harm that can last a lifetime.

And IMO it's unconscionable to produce a kid you cant afford/arent prepared for just to dump it into the huge adoption pool. Did you know there are ~100,000 children waiting to be adopted in the US? Waiting and hoping for families? Why do you think it's better to add MORE to that? It means one of those kids has less chance of finding a home. (and that's not kids in foster care, that number is 400,000) Do you think women should be encouraged to add more kids to that unnecessarily?

It's your claim...you google it...or it's BS. I asked you first, you made the first claim.

Source that "10s of thousands of abortions have not happened because of the repeal of Roe"

They just go underground like it used to be. Every town had an abortionist.

Facetious?

No way.

I am a violence survivor.

So the more abortions, the less violent crime.

Some, not all, unwanted children grow up angry and take it out in violence.

If a woman is forced to give birth against her will, one can imagine what kind of mother she will be.
Which is exactly why the choice should always be up to the woman. Thank you Parser, I understand you..

Why would you bother digging up responses for him?

To expose lies.

Never tag or quote the liars who make stuff up. When you do that, you are giving the trolls want they want: arguments. It is extremely important that trolls never know when they see the truth their lying is working. None of them want to debate. They all just want a lot of attention, even if it is negative, so any direct reply or tag in a "You're wrong" post is what will make all of them keep lying, not admit they lied.

That would limit a large amount of discussion here

Only if you put all of the anti-choicers on your ignore list and do not expose any of their lies. My recommendation is simply don't let trolls know trolling gives them what they want.

Period trackers? Why would the government care about women transporting those, whatever they are?
You lack the necessary paranoia for modern American society.

Er...their lies arent exposed as lies...they remain until someone proves them wrong. How does anyone else know they're wrong?

As far as I am concerned, unless have irregular periods and must take estrogen pills to regulate them, there is no need for a "period tracker" anyway.

Wow.

I kept track of my period starting in high school in the 70s.

The Hallmark stores always had a small purse size calendar for the year and I bought one every January. I kept track in that small calendar in my purse.

All my friends kept track.

I didn't know that people didn't keep track.

Now there are apps that do it but in states that ban abortion, they can confiscate your phone and use that app against someone if they had an abortion.

Is it?

Texas had put out bounties on providers.

People might not be "disappeared" but they are getting hunted down.

No, actually just banning abortion. We already know that tens of thousands of abortions have not happened because of the repeal of Roe. Texas went from 2700 abortions to less then 10.
Because they went to other states.

For example, one study noted that "on average, 1,391" people went outside of Texas to have an abortion per month for the study period of September thru December, 2021. That's almost 5,600 abortions in just that spate of time.
(study link: http://sites.utexas.edu/txpep/files/2022/03/TxPEP-out-of-state-SB8.pdf ).

Oddly, many of them happened in Oklahoma, but women went as far away as my state: Maryland.

So, it's not like Texas stopped abortions...just sent them elsewhere as a result of the law.

The only way I was able to get a period was take estrogen pills three weeks on, one week off. Otherwise, there was zero chance of bleeding between my legs that month.

The only people who actually need to track their periods are those who have them irregularly or are trying to get pregnant IMO.
