Okay, now that race is come into focus, and there's little doubt about who will be facing whom, and after thinking it over for a few days, it's time to put a stake in the ground.

As I've said before, in 2016 I didn't find either candidate qualified for office, both for ethical reasons. So I did a write-in. And also as I've said in other threads, were a gun held at my head then, and I had to choose between the two, I would have voted for Hillary. Trump's sins were greater.

In 2020, Trump remained unqualified for office in my eye, and while I didn't find myself agreeing with much Biden had to say on policy, at the time I couldn't fairly claim Joe was unfit for office, so I voted Biden.

When we thought this race was going to be a rematch, Trump was still off my list, and Biden joined him. Between my growing belief Biden enriched himself with a pay-for-access scheme run by his son and the clear signs of old age dementia, I saw him unfit for office. Had that gun been pointed at my head again, that time I would have had to pick Trump (take that a statement about Biden's changing fitness for office, not Trump’s).

Now it's Harris v Trump, and while I reserve a right to change my mind with months still to go before election day, I'm back where I was in 2016. Trump remains manifestly unqualified for office. And sorry, I just find Harris to be too limited, both intellectually and from a leadership standpoint, to be in charge of the nation and our armed forces. Diehards will find that unfair, but sorry, as far as I’m concerned that she's lacking what it takes puts her in the same boat as me, as probably 100% of the people reading this thread, and as 99.9% of all Americans. It's okay, not everybody is ready -- or will ever be ready -- for the big chair. So I'll need to find a write-in candidate this year. And lastly on this point, were that gun pointed at me once again, like 2016, I would vote against Trump, choosing Harris. While I don't think she's qualified, and I think she's hit her ceiling, at least there's a chance I'm wrong, and she might grow into the role after a year or two. I'm convinced Trump will never be anything other than what he is today.

On a related note, count me among those who think this is going to be a race. A few weeks ago I thought if Harris became the nominee it wouldn't matter, but now I do. I see her selection energizing the Democratic base, and that makes it a race. There's also Donald Trump, a more undisciplined candidate one will never find. He can easily do things to lose this race, even if Harris runs nothing more than big-gaffe-free, average campaign.

FWIW.

Two PhD parents (biology and economics), herself a qualified lawyer with dual degrees in economics and political science and a long career as District Attorney, Attorney General, Senator and Vice President... and your assessment is "too limited intellectually."

No need to point out the obvious, I suppose. You're in a safe blue state anyway, aren't you?

Yes, there’s little worry my lack of voting for Harris will put Massachusetts’s electoral votes at risk.

?????? It is totally disingenuous to compare Trump and HRC...............HRC was perhaps the most qualified in the last century. Ethical???? What did Clinton ever get even ACCUSED of?????
So I did a write-in.

You helped Trump win
And also as I've said in other threads, were a gun held at my head then, and I had to choose between the two, I would have voted for Hillary. Trump's sins were greater.
Yet you helped Trump win

Zero proof

I lost respect for your thinking and judgement-----so have many, I'm sure. Biden was fit for office---no proof otherwise.

Then vote HARRIS !! Listen, one of the two major candidates will win. Period.
Vote for the best candidate. It is irresponsible to do otherwise.
Good grief, no wonder this nation is in trouble.....

I really don't see why someone in a non-swing state who doesn't approve of either candidate should have to weigh the lessor of two evils. If you live in a swing state, sure, you can make the argument that its important. But for someone who lives in Massachusetts like OP, the chance of his vote affecting the outcome is quite literally zero.

No excuse.
His comments affect some people, and WHY not vote for the better candidate??? History will show it.....

Again, disingenuous to compare on your part------------------Harris is a champion by any standard compared with DJT

Seems as qualified as anyone. Certainly better than the malignant narcissist scumbag piece of shit liar grifter rapist and seditionist.

I could nitpick a part or two but that would be petty.

If the nation's in trouble it's from those who cannot tolerate a different point of view.

it's quite simple. I promised myself I would never vote for someone whom I believe is unqualified for office.

It's a liberating feeling, BTW, I highly recommend it.

Kamala will easily be controlled and will take orders. She will make a great puppet, The powers that told Joe to drop out of the race will tell Kamala how the game is played. She has earned little through her own efforts.

Narrow/irresponsible reasoning IMO------it hurts the nation. But I'm sure it makes you "feel good".....

Under biden every product, service , insurance policy , home repair, car repair, has gone up in price drastically. Every medical policy is way up.

Home ownership and buying a new car is out of the question for many people.

Pocket book issues matter for most people not rainbow parades in June

The former Attorney General of the largest state in the country is not intelligent enough to be President? Seriously?

Racism...

Under biden every product, service , insurance policy , home repair, car repair, has gone up in price drastically. Every medical policy is way up.

And under trump, we had a massive pandemic.

Difference is - Biden had nothing to do with inflation, but Trump DID completely mismanage pandemic and ended up killing 100,000s EXTRA people unnecessarily... err... on purpose (when his team thought it would affect blue states more)

OK, I'll play. You tell us who you think is 'qualified' to be president. And don't limit yourself to just one. If you're so inclined, give us your reasons. 288752296_2064450973740249_4092054936130708368_n.webp

Who is your Dreams candidate?

Harris is both more qualified and likeable than she's given credit for. Once folks see enough of her, the MAGA types will hate her more, but normal people will see a woman who wants the best for her country. On the other side you have an unstable incompetent goon, and convicted felon. The choice should be clear to sane Americans.

Despite the right wing media and Trump campaign painting her as a "radical leftist", those grounded in reality know this to be bullshit, and she's very centrist. Certainly not my first pick, but a HUGE bit better than Trump.

IDK what kind of temporary insanity has anyone believing that tariffs on all foreign goods is not going to hurt the economy badly and not drive crazy inflationary pricing, but it's just moronic.

The GOP also wants to reduce the tax brackets to just three. If you look into the actual realities of that, it raises taxes, of course on the lowest earners, while of course handing huge giveaways to top earners. Again lunatic economics! The typical GOP. 'raise taxes, raise spending" magical garbage that never helps us other than the elite. IDK how they sell it, but a lot of fools buy in...

I'm optimistic, that Ms.Harris will help us narrowly avoid disaster with her boring centrist approach, that may not hugely improve things, but at least won't drive us in deeper into a hole of mad policy and corruption for Trumpy's pockets and cronies...

With what's at stake in this election, the country could not stand a chance under another liberal democrat presidency. Even if there are some who don't like Trump for one reason or another, even moderate democrats, the Republican, Conservative ticket is the only choice. The growth of insane radical leftist agenda through our country attests to this.....they need put back in the closet for a while. Vote Trump.
