I agree that the "coup" language is hyperbolic.
I also think that NC republicans should respect the governor that NC voters elected.
This is somewhat OT, but NC is something of a testbed for a Koch/Pope puppet government. Read Dark Money... NC will be like Kansas soon enough.
And in all cases actions have consequences, so there ya go, we shall see if there are repercussions or not to such outlandish maneuvering.Probably the same way the people of the United States feel about President Obama's actions since November 8th. If that were true, then we'd probably be pissed, but that isn't what's happening. That is the narrative being used to spin this for political purpose by the Democrats and their buddies in the press, because statements like that sell papers and sell ads on local news.
And in all cases actions have consequences, so there ya go, we shall see if there are repercussions or not to such outlandish maneuvering.
No. Not really. The Koch brothers don't influence in NC like they do in KS. But, with the far right in control of the state House, they don't have to.
What's outlandish? Please... tell me? Specifically?
You acting as if all is just fine, yes, I would call that outlandish if for one second I thought you actually believed what you are saying. Pssst, I don't buy it for a second.
I'm asking you to tell me what actions you think are outlandish? Being as concerned as your posts sound, I thought that you could surely tell me what has you so upset?
Ummm, pretty much all of them. Clear that up?
A power grab? Bull****.
Because they are meant to hobble the next governor, and we both know they would not have done any of this had a Repub won the election. The Repubs want to change the rules so that they have control over areas that have been the governors to decide on and, yes, gain more power for themselves in the process, It is the worst sort of politics no matter who is doing it. If you wanted to go through each and every point why is it you did not do so when you replied to the thread originally, or since, try addressing that, so far all you have said is "so what". You got my answer, you just do not like it, too bad.Do you even know what they are? List three, and then tell me what makes them outlandish? Please. And, thank you in advance. Hint... I listed one above in another post that I thought was outlandish, although I didn't use that term.
What exactly are you talking about, and how will it or they hobble the next governor? You still haven't even given me one, much less three like I asked, examples of what we're talking about here. I even gave you one that I posted myself.Because they are meant to hobble the next governor,
Probably not, but that proves nothing other than partisanship and it definitely doesn't prove it will hobble the next governor.and we both know they would not have done any of this had a Repub won the election.
No. Not even close. However, if you show me one example that supports your claim accurately I will be happy to discuss it.The Repubs want to change the rules so that they have control over areas that have been the governors to decide on and, yes, gain more power for themselves in the process,
All this rhetoric and no substance. Name some examples. Some specific examples instead of continuing to post rhetorical hyperbole. It is the worst sort of politics no matter who is doing it.
Because I was responding to the thread title's and OP article's accusation of a coup and power grab.If you wanted to go through each and every point why is it you did not do so when you replied to the thread originally,
I did. You must have missed it.or since,
Nope. Never said "so what." I simply addressed the claims of a coup and power grab.try addressing that, so far all you have said is "so what".
No, I didn't get an answer, I got rhetorical bull**** with no specifics. I gave a specific comparison in post 17 and gave specific examples in post 25. So far, your posts have been nothing but "This is awful" and "This is the worst kind of politics" and so on with no specific mention of an actual example of what we're eve talking about. You got my answer, you just do not like it, too bad.
Read more @: A coup? A power grab? Theres some serious political drama in North Carolina right now
Wow this is some pretty messed up stuff. Its clear that the Republicans in North Carolina are trying to using this special session to limit the incoming Democratic governor. Now I agree with calling a special session for that hurricane relief, but that should be the only reason they are convening a special session.

So cutting governors staff to 1/5th of what a Repub governor would have is not doing anything at all wrong, really?. You can play your childish game all you want, those that see with open eyes know exactly what they are doing, denying it only makes you look like some sort of Partisan hack, your choice, your state, for now. What exactly are you talking about, and how will it or they hobble the next governor? BTW, it's not my responsibility to prove a negative. You guys are the one saying it's a coup and a power grab, and it's you guys responsibility to prove your assertions. However, I've already given more than I had to show my side of argument is based in law, the state constitution, and fact.
However, out of a sense of fair play, I will give you another chance to describe one (not three) example where one action done or about to be done by the current Governor or current General Assembly that is meant to hobble the next governor?
Oh, come on. It's quite obvious what the intent of this is -- to kneecap the incoming governor because he's a Democrat.

You need to research that a little more. It's not the governor's staff that's being cut. It's positions that the governor could make political appointments to, making them regular state employees that have to have the correct qualifications and go through the application and interview process to get hired - making them professional positions instead of political handouts to sycophants wanting a government job.So cutting governors staff to 1/5th of what a Repub governor would have is not doing anything at all wrong, really?.
Really? Insults and name calling? Do some research and then get back to me. You mean that NC will soon have a 4.4% unemployment rate like Kansas? That's good to know.
https://klic.dol.ks.gov/gsipub/index.asp?docid=472
The unemployment rate in Kansas could exceed the national rate in 2018, according to the state’s own economists.
In a memo, the Kansas Legislative Research Department forecast that the state’s unemployment rate would top the national rate beginning in 2018. The state’s unemployment rate historically has been lower than the national rate.
The Kansas Department of Labor has reported that job growth in the state has been stagnant since early 2015, according to the memo. September figures showed private non-farm jobs in the state declined by 0.3 percent and real weekly earnings dropped 0.8 percent from the previous year

EDIT: Forgot to add, that this action would give those employees civil service protections under the law, where a political appointee has none.
Why didn't the NC legislature do this when GOP Gov. McCrory was first elected ?
