Great post, thank you. The only problem is that some of the people here do not believe Muslims are due the same rights because "their Creator" is a different one than Jefferson's.
It is so revealing to read the posts from people who pretend to be "real" Americans (as their spokesperson Sarah Palin put it) yet in truth are biased, bigoted buffoons whose beliefs are actually anti-American in so many ways.
You gotta love the people here who justify discriminating against Muslim Americans because they're Muslim! After all Muslims are bad, evil savages...
...
They had to fly another airline because they were incensed and making "inappropriate comments" after they and the other passengers were deplaned.
...
Really? So if Air Tran decided to not allow Muslims to fly you think that would be legal? Really?
A private club can discriminate. A public business cannot. Freedom of religion extends to all religions not just the majority religion.
As far as a right to fly in the Constitution that is a ridiculous statement, no offense. Using your thought process I think you're suggesting that the Constitution is not a living document which I think it is.
The concept of rights is not restricted by future inventions. Do you think a car dealer can not sell you a car because you're Black? Can a car rental company not rent you a car because you're a Jew?
Through racial profiling. Congrats, Sherlock.
If we know that muslim terrorist are the group most likely to attack us again why would we be checking a little old white lady in a wheel chair. Thats just plain stupid, search those from the group that is most likely to commit a terrorist act, muslims.
People wearing muslim clothing we should check, airlines should also know the religion of all passengers.
If were going to do this right then we should be fare about it and check all muslims regardless of their race.

Roughly 80,000 Hispanic and White Muslims live in the US.

So much for freedom of religion if you are traveling in the US.
Welcome to Warsaw 1939.
Thats a bit of an over exaggeration don't ya think.
Warsaw 1939, Jews were rounded up and forced where arm bands, to live in the ghetto, and work in forced labor factories. How can you compare that to checking someones carry on bag. Please.
Don't you think it would be smart to know who the potential terrorist are?
Political correctness makes me wanna vomit. Everyone is so afraid they might offend someone. Well if offending me will keep us safe then search my bags, hell strip search me. What ever it takes.
That is not what you said.

It always starts out small. Look at your history.
If we sacrifice privacy and freedom in the process, no! If that is the case I waisted my time for 12 years! I refuse to live in fear because of 9/11 or any other terrorist act.
So much for liberty and freedom. According to the founders you deserve neither.
Damn, you was in da joint for 12 years?
Yea, it sucked! Hell my MOS does not even exist anymore!
Neither does mine I was a 54E20. That was a nuclear Biological Chemical operations specialist. I think its a 74D now
Good to meet you troop.
Now if I can only convince you to be against profiling.
Actually I believe it is YOU who has given in to terrorism by living in fear and by being OK with the destruction of our Constitution.
Ever hear of "Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death"? Do you disagree? Patrick Henry said it more than 200 years ago and it has stood the test of time.
What harm does it do if we check people from a group that wish us harm. Think about it 98% of all terrorist attacks against the west are commited by muslims. If I were muslim I would understand if I were singled out because of my religion. Im not saying we should torture them for christ sake. Just take them aside and search them. Whats the big deal?
Were they beheading people and posting it on youtube or hijacking planes? Did the Pope make a call for such violence and make the small conflict a "catholic" thing throughout the world? You score no points with such irrelevance.
I love the way Christian extreamists are somehow absolved because it didnt do the exact same things.
No, they are not absolved. However, it is shown time and time again that random examples of other extremists doing bad things is not relevant to the discussion at hand. If you want to talk about bad Christians, then at least do it in a relevant context rather than hijacking a conversation so that you can get your anti-Christian angst out there yet again.
This is nothing to do with "anti-Christian" angst. You made the point that Christian leaders have not been responsible for condoneing the violence. I provided examples of were this happend. There was no hijacking involved that was a direct responce to your point. These were not "random christians". On the contrary its likely they killed many times the amount Al Queda has. Not to mention the fact that I think its fair to say that european facism was quite a coordinated effort.
This sort of thinking is beyond reality. America is not like this and hopefully never will be.People wearing muslim clothing we should check, airlines should also know the religion of all passengers. If were going to do this right then we should be fare about it and check all muslims regardless of their race.
You've changed your mind? Your last post you wrote that you wanted people to have to identify their religion before boarding an airplane AND that all Muslims must be "checked." That is not America, that is evil.Thats a bit of an over exaggeration don't ya think.

This happened after the 1st WTC bombing and was purely American:I made the argument that comparing Christian violence in today's world and the Muslim extremist conflict is disingenuous because there isn't a comparison.
If Christians were beheading people and flying planes into buildings, a crucifix worn around the neck would be part of the profile at the airport. But they don't so its not.
And I am skeptical that you will find a papal bull condoning the violence you talked about whereas fatwas come down almost weekly.
It's just not comparable in this context.

Ah. So now Muslims are more likely to commit a terrorist act simply because they're Muslim. Your intolerance towards others is simply amazing.
This would be funny if it were not so sad. :doh
