'71 Plymouth 340 Scamp accelerates past motorcycles @140mph on semi-crowded road. Dangerous, irresponsible, but entertaining to watch anyway.

This 71 Scamp is just Plymouth's copy of the more well known Dodge Dart, just like the 68-74 Ventura was just Pontiac's Chevy Nova(also Olds Omega & Buick Apollo). Anyway, this guy is out for a test spin after tuning his 71 Scamp for future straight-line drag racing, when he's passed by 3 motorcycle riders. Soon after, he accelerates from about 45mph to 140mph in just a few seconds, and BLOWS by them. This is stupid, dangerous, and don't try it at home(or when out on a road that's not actually inside your home)!

You never see the car from the outside, so I found a photo of the same car and it's owner(in driver's seat). **Keep an eye on tach in lower center, and speedometer superimposed on left side:

What did he do that is dangerous? He was in a passing zone and maintained control of his vehicle in the open lane he was passing in. He committed the offense of speeding, nothing else.

He was doing 140 miles an hour in a 45-50 zone, which is 90-95mph over the speed limit, on a road with blind corners not far ahead. Plus, after he passed the bikes, he partially locked up the breaks trying to slow down so as not to slam into the car ahead of him. You can hear his tires chirping as he's laying on the breaks there. You cover a LOT of distance really quickly going that fast, which means there's less room for error, and there's always that possibility that someone is going to pull out ahead of you, not realizing or expecting anyone to be going that fast.

If passing people at over 130mph on secondary roads was perfectly safe, it would be legal. If you get caught going 90mph over the speed limit in some states, you'd lose your license and get a fine in the $1,000+ range!

**(BTW, I added the "stupid, irresponsible and dangerous" tags, so that moderators don't assume I am encouraging other people to do what this guy did)...
