Obama posted on his facebook page yesterday that his economic policies of spend and spend, then tax and tax while spending some more are working. According to Obama's figures, his economic policies have saved or created 650,000 jobs. Considering we have lost 3.6 million jobs since he took office, unemployment has nearly doubled to 9.8%, and we have not had a single month with positive job growth, it is understandable why some would be skeptical of this fuzzy Washington math.

It goes something like this: someone starts with 100 employees. They lay off 75. They hire back 50. They lay off 70. They hire back 50. Then they lay off 55. According to Obama, they have doubled their workforce and the rate of layoffs is decreasing rapidly. By regular real world math, they are out of employees.

But even if Obama's stimulus plan had created 650,000 jobs, it cost us $787 billion dollars. That is $1.2 million per job. So if you have been hired in the last 10 months and are now making $1.2 million, I would love to hear from you. We could all use a little hope these days. Then again, maybe the only jobs he is saving are CEO jobs. How much does the CEO of GM make now?

Don't get me wrong, I believe Obama has created or saved 650,000 jobs. He did it by creating jobs in Italy when he took over Chrysler and sold it to Fiat. He did it in Brazil when he lent them $2 billion of our borrowed China money so that they could drill there instead of drilling here. Obama has created jobs for abortion doctors overseas by sending US dollars overseas to fund abortion in a reversal of the Mexico City policy. And of course, Obama is saving thousands of Taliban jobs through his indecision on Afghanistan. No wonder so many foreigners like to come on Obama's facebook page and praise him.

Firstly, 650000 so far.

Secondly, Obama was not directly responsible for most of those job losses, seeing as the economic conditions that caused them eventuated before he won office.

Your point on Chrysler is laughable and totally incorrect; the government did not sell Chrysler to Fiat, it sold itself (or merged, or whatever).

The reason foreigners like Obama so much is because the conservative right of America is considered a lunatic fringe responsible for a lot of bad vibes and policy by most of the rest of the world; it certainly is Down Under.

He seems to have overlooked this part when he posted.

<His five-year plan for Chrysler Group LLC, to be unveiled Wednesday, calls for deep discounts across many models over the next 18 months. The goal is to lift sales, generate cash and keep the automaker going. That will give Marchionne, who is working 20-hour days, enough time to try to revamp the automaker's struggling model lineup, according to a person briefed on the plan.>

Wait do you mean I overlooked something or the OP?

Yoss, when the government bailed out Chrysler, they converted our tax dollars to ownership, gave half the company to the unions and then screwed the rest of the stockholders and bond holders by letting the unions sell Chrysler to Fiat and cash in. Look it up.

As far as economic conditions, I partially agree. Bush had 4.6% unemployment and years of positive economic growth before we voted in Pelosi and co. in 2006 because we thought Republicans were spending too much.

They raised the minimum wage which led to record unemployment among high-school dropouts and other groups that usually receive that minimum wage. Then they refused to reform Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae when Republicans were calling for it. They wrote the bailout bills that Bush signed, giving absolute authority to the secretary of the treasury over tarp money and bailout scope. They really didn't do anything else.

They didn't let us drill here. They didn't let us explore other viable forms of energy, instead they poured money into now failed ethanol. They didn't cut spending, in fact they increased it exponentially. Pelosi's congress screwed us royally.

But Obama has been in there for 10 months now, I don't think we can blame it all just on Pelosi and Bush, who decided he wanted bi-partisan co-operation instead of fiscal responsibility.

Obama passed a $787 billion pork project he called stimulus. He passed cash for clunkers which created thousands of revolving door jobs, created a bump and drop situation for auto dealers, was so poorly managed that auto dealers were out hundreds of thousands of dollars hoping for repayment (alot of which never happened due to errors with the DMV), and cut the supply of used cars that poor and middle class people could actually afford. Instead of drilling here and seeking energy other than wind and solar, Obama decided to loan $2 billion of our borrowed money to Brazil so they could drill there.

He has bailed out banks, CEOs, auto industries (just to watch them fail anyway), and now he is proposing cap and trade bills that will raise every family's energy costs by $1,700. He is proposing a health plan that will tax healthcare providers, tax insurance companies, tax people who don't buy government approved insurance, and tax people who buy really good insurance, all so that he can afford to give us all tax credits so that we can buy government approved insurance that is so heavily regulated that the only new competition going forward will be government provided. It includes you and me paying for everyone else's healthcare, illegal aliens' healthcare, and abortions. Oh yeah, we are already doing that overseas.

And of course, he is promising to let the Bush tax cuts expire on our employers, small businesses, and business owners when they die. Give it a couple years, we will be looking back on the good old days when unemployment was only 10%.

And Obama can't even run the wars effectively. The most bloody months in Afghanistan while Obama tries to decide if he wants to listen to his generals or his party base. And we pulled out of Iraq cities too soon to make a political statement and hundreds of civilians died.

The buck has to stop somewhere. Obama knew what he was getting into when he signed up. If he didn't, that's on him. I don't think we voted for a scape goater 'n' chief. Stop making excuses for him.

One last point, Obama has increased spending more in 10 months than Bush did in 7 years. So I think we can assume that Obama is responsible for a little bit of what's going on. Don't forget, you guys where blaming Bush for stuff back in 2001 before 9/11.
