Right. So people should stop going around saying numbers like "35-40 million."
We don't know how many (though there are plenty of estimates out there) but we do know that not everyone who doesn't have health insurance today lacks it because they can't afford to pay any of the premiums.
You are also right that many who don't have insurance are able to pay for it. Under the health care reform bill though, they will get federal subsidies whether then actually need them or not. A family of four making $88,000. should be able to afford their own insurance premiums.
See, that's the kind of blanket statement that is your downfall, and it's why the law is more complicated that this. Insurance costs vary greatly from state to state and family to family.
I managed to raise a family of four, with health insurance, on a lot less than that.
Wow! Your'e the center of the universe!
You finally got it right.
Now... are you happy to subsidize insurance for anyone making $88,000. a year???
What if I'm one of the people getting the subsidy?
Then you are a freeloader... of course most of the U.S. population is too, thanks to the left's policies.
And you're a hero.
Thanks again... about time you saw the light.
Some people pay the bills and others freeload.
Now we know where each of us stands.
You should wear an American flag around town!
Who's flag do you wear around town ??
The Communist International, of course. Viva la revolucion! Freeloaders unite!
At least you gave up on the fantasy that taxpayers aren't footing the bill for most of the freeloader's health care insurance premiums.
At least you gave up on the fantasy that taxpayers aren't footing the bill for most of the freeloader's health care insurance premiums.
I don't think I ever said that.
Which freeloaders would that be?
Most of the people getting health care insurance premium subsidies, which is a sizable group. A family of four making $88,000. and getting a subsidy is a freeloader in my book.
Most of the people? Not all?
Did I say "most" or "all" ??
Most of the people getting health care insurance premium subsidies, which is a sizable group.
You said most. Did you misspell "all"?
A misspelled word from me would be extremely rare.

Well, your book not withstanding, you do realize you have been paying all along. Seriously, without reform, you pay with no accountability to anyone, no mandate that anyone pay their own. This is what I don't understand about the the resistance to this plan. Doing nothing means you continue to pay for others, with little to no check, oversight, call for accountability from anyone. The uninsured continue to have you pay for them.
As for a family of four making 88,000 a year, that is if you don't get insurance from your employer. What would premiums be if paid by the individual and not through an employer? CNN says such a policy would cost $9,435. We'd only give some $4,220. Helpful to be sure, but not a free ride.
Whereas without reform, they can just get the care, and the costs get passed on to you through higher premiums and higher costs. I'm sure you think that is better, though I can't see why.
You mean the uninsured can get care now ??? I thought it was impossible for the uninsured to get healthcare and thousands died because of it????
I guess the Dems were lying all that time.
