Isn't Lady Chatterley's Lover supposed to be go-to female erotica? Or was that omitted intentionally from your list?
Really?????You just proved you know absolutely NOTHING about women, or men for that matter...
In my experience literature as a whole does not translate to movies very well. The only one I ever saw that did a decent job was Harry Potter. There's only so much you can cram into a one/one and a half hour production of a book, so much of the content is lost and replaced by the handful of juicy scenes. I've read 8 of the 9 books in Gabaldon's series, and fell in love with Jamie as I'm sure most women did. I'm always horribly dissapointed when I watch an attempt to bring it to the screen.

I really think that that's because when reading you get inside of the character in a way you just can't on the screen.
Yeah there is some things missing.I agree with you that Harry Potter is the only books I've seen adapted to movies very, very well. There are still things they didn't have time to put into the movies, though.
Sometimes it's what's left to the imagination and not vividly decribed that makes a passage erotic. I remember reading in one of the prologues or epilogues where Diane Gabaldon describes her husbands assessment of her books and tells her something to the effect of "Enough with the nipples, already!" Wonderful fascinating author, she has a degree in Marine Biology. Go figure!Erotic moments, sure. North and South would be blushing.
It's also part of the article which is why I mentioned it. To be fair, I think they were talking more about the TV series than the books.

There has been some. 1984, Tom Jones, 2001, The Thin Red Line, and A Clockwork Orange.I agree with you that Harry Potter is the only books I've seen adapted to movies very, very well. There are still things they didn't have time to put into the movies, though.
I don't think he's too into knowing other people. He says the only two things that bring him Joy is drinking vodka and listening to rock music.Really?????You just proved you know absolutely NOTHING about women, or men for that matter...
Now Ann Rice (RIP) was WAY out there with her Sleeping Beauty series of books. They were downright pornographic. Kinda disturbing and dark. She definitely had a kinky side! I liked her vampire books a whole lot more!Romance novels, but make the sex super spicy.

Mario Puzo's The Godfather translated well to the screen - ironically with the exception of the most erotic sections about Johnny Fontane's sex life, which were completely omitted from the movies. There has been some. 1984, Tom Jones, 2001, The Thin Red Line, and A Clockwork Orange.
The movie always has to be edited to fit into 2 plus hours but staying true to the essence of the book is what is important. The modern TV series can do justice to something like The Game of Thrones, the actual books not the one they made up at the end.Mario Puzo's The Godfather translated well to the screen - ironically with the exception of the most erotic sections about Johnny Fontane's sex life, which were completely omitted from the movies.
Usually ... but in this case, they actually made three movies! The movie always has to be edited to fit into 2 plus hours but staying true to the essence of the book is what is important.
True. And they were all quite good.Usually ... but in this case, they actually made three movies!

Of this list, I started Neon Gods, but wasn't really in the mood for BDSM with gods and goddesses at the moment. I've read A Court of Thorns and Roses and all the books in that series, of course. I read The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty a long time ago. I've also read The Time Traveler's Wife and some of the Outlander series (seen all of the shows, though). I started watching Bridgerton, but wasn't really into it. Maybe I'll pick it back up. I've read Priest as well.
Anyone else read any or have a good one that's not on the list?
I just finished Lady Chatterley's Lover. I was disappointed. I'm sure back in the 20s that was scandalous.
