Romney’s team is reportedly gathering supplies to gain points with Virginia swing voters, but they’re not demonstrating their compassion as much as their ignorance of how officials operate in a disaster situation.
Even I know that, if you truly want to help, you should communicate with the agency you are seeking to assist – or just check its website.
According to the Red Cross:
Unfortunately, due to logistical constraints the Red Cross does not accept or solicit individual donations or collections of items. Items such as collected food, used clothing and shoes must be sorted, cleaned, repackaged and transported which impedes the valuable resources of money, time, and personnel.
...
Romney is seemingly unconcerned about Dem-led states in the storm’s path, neglecting to call any Democratic governors bracing for the storm in states such as Maryland (Gov. O’Malley), Massachusetts (Gov. Patrick), New York (Gov. Cuomo), and North Carolina (Gov. Perdue). And it’s Romney who wrongly accuses Obama of rejecting bi-partisanship.
One of these is already being talked about in a thread (privatizing disaster relief). This shows his character in a crisis situation.
4 Ways Mitt Romney Botched His Hurricane Sandy Response
1. Romney Batters President While Sandy Batters Coast
2. Romney’s Impeding Red Cross Relief Efforts
3. Romney’s Playing Partisan Favorites With Calls To Governors
4. Once Again, Romney’s Exploiting A National Tragedy For His Own Gain
The link is nothing but a hack, hit job trying to take advantage of a looming natural disaster to score cheap political points.

“For safety’s sake, as you and your family prepare for the storm, please be sure to bring any yard signs inside. In high winds they can be dangerous, and cause damage to homes and property.”
Ryan had his family in tow for the factory visit in New Philadelphia, and his 7-, 9- and 10-year-olds scampered between parts bins and heavy chains. Nine-year-old Charlie waved the peace sign and mugged for cameras, prompting his mother, Janna Ryan, to shake her head and declare, "I don't know where he gets it. It's kind of crazy."
And we should also mention that the Republican Party’s 2011 spending bill slashed the budget for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, cutting $700 million intended for an overhaul of America’s aging weather satellite system.
At the last minute, I did find an article regarding point #2 from the OP article:
Romney campaign “hindering” and “impeding” Hurricane Sandy relief
Well, I thought the whole article was pretty funny myself. Perhaps Mitt could spare some of the $310,607,684 in campaign contributions he has received to help some people out.
The Red Cross sucks. They stole most the money for 9-11 and pay themselves 6 figure salaries. Romney got it right by NOT using the Red Cross and instead other relief efforts. But I am confident that Romney did 1,000,000 times as much as the OP did - and not being in office Romney had no obligation to do anything because the storm isn't a political event.
NOW, let's all wait and read what Helix2048 had done himself. I suspect, like many "liberals," his view is that he should do nothing and insist others do all charity work. We'll see if I'm right about that.
Boy this is a stretch! You folks are really getting desperate. I did however enjoy the anti Obama and pro Bachman ads at addictinginfo.org.
When hurricane Katrina hit, I donated all my air miles (from 15 years of flying) to the red cross, so they could fly people down to assist with relief. I haven't been in a financial position where I could offer cash assistance and I really wanted to help out, and that was the only way I could. So I do care about people.
I'm only poking fun at Romney because I can. Yes, I give him props for donating a tour bus to ship supplies from his offices to VA. Although the storm seems to be doing more damage WAY NORTH of there. I think he needs to look at a map.

4 Ways Mitt Romney Botched His Hurricane Sandy Response
Am I reading this correctly? Romney sent his campaign bus to bring relief supplies to Virginia and his campaign offices are collecting supplies but somehow or other this is supposed to be campaigning and obstruction?
That's just pure insanity.

So whats Romney suppose to do? He is not the President, he's not even a Senator/Congressman. He has no power of the government behind him. He is not a part of an organization that is designed to help others. So...whats he suppose to do?
Easy.... follow the Red Cross and other relief institutions guidelines... Donate money.. and in Romney's case a buttload of money. He can afford it after all. Getting "supplies" is nothing but a photo op and goes against the wishes of main-stream relief organisations guidelines.
Imagine that. The man has already paid millions in taxes and donated millions more, not good enough.
He tries to organize people,
and not good enough.
What can only Obama organize communities or something?
**** the "main-stream" relief organizations if they turn away donations.
I would imagine the people who need it won't be turning it away.

Not his job.
It in fact takes resources away from the disaster area, because now Red Cross has to send people to "help the Romney campaign" move unwanted goods, instead of focusing on relief. There is a reason all relief organisations say they want cash or blood, not canned goods. Money is easier to move than canned goods.
They would never turn away donations if it was cash. But moving a ton of relief supplies from Ohio to say New York will take time, cost money and take away resources from the area. They already have a lot of relief supplies near the effected areas, and just have to get it out.. but noo, they have to play a political football and lend Romney and his political aspirations a hand to move unwanted supplies to where they are supposedly needed. It is simply a waste of resources, but they cant say no as it would turn the US right against them.
Those that need them are far away from where the goods were given.. and that is the freaking point!
So? There are plenty of people organizing things. Its not their job either. Yet they still do it in order to help. Your response here was really lame.
All the money in the world isn't going to do jack squat if the goods are not in the area to buy.
And the Red Cross does not have to do jack to help with the canned goods.
They can leave that up to other organizations that deal with such things. Like the Salvation Army.
Again, the Red Cross does not have to help Romney at all.
There are other organizations which help with supplies.
Nor do they have to pay for the transportation of those goods. That should have been obvious when Romney donated his bus to ship the supplies, at his expense.
How in the world do you think charities work? That they just buy up the supplies in disaster areas? Do you really think that the stock piles that they have would be enough to handle everyone in any given area? Particularly a place like New York that has over 7 million people living there? I could post a dozen pictures of disaster areas that that would be impossible.
