4 dead as severe storms hit Houston area

If Red States are so badly managed, why are NY and CA losing citizens to them by the truckloads?

I think in the case of CA and NY, for instance, it's driven mostly be the costs of living, particularly in more densely-populated urban areas.

For Liberals targeting Red States.....

I'm pretty sure that it is the conservatives who spend an enormous amount of effort raging on California. It was Republicans who consistently mock and laugh at California wild fires. FOX News had a great time creating ways in which Californians can just rake their forests. Greene was all about Rothchild space lasers to blame. No push back from conservative America. But when Texas puts its hand out, yet again, Liberals are just supposed to be compassionate, huh? Again, States that pride themselves on not taxing their citizens, but are in constant need of America's tax dollars, should be the last to parade around their outrage on socialism. Enter that hated "big brother" to change those diapers.

Perhaps the real problem is that you see America as either liberal or conservative. As an American, you are both. Clinging to a tribe is why this country is so dysfunctional.

You make the mistake of confusing political showmanship with hypocrisy.

You have just been trained to accept Republican lies as normal, thus deflecting and assigning the behavior to Democrats as well. "Alternate facts" has been accepted as way to cling to delusions. Perhaps if Republicans were actually honest to their citizens, they wouldn't have to rely upon "showmanship" to excite the masses into an obedient stupor.

But I guess raging about border invasions and rapists & murderers was just about "political showmanship" too, right? I mean, they clearly didn't mean it. And they haven't been raging so much since rejecting border security, have they? They use you. But instead of calling them out for their blatant disrespect towards you, you excuse them for their "showmanship." C'mon, man.

Imagine that, there's more to population rises and falls than red/blue-ness! ;)
That doesn't prove that bad political policies aren't ever the result of Redness or Blueness. And since NY and CA have been expensive places to live for decades now, it's logical to extrapolate other reasons for residents to pick up and move.

There was no "solution." There were only common sense measures to try to limit deaths and to keep America going. Trump failed miserably with both. The health officials talked of masks and social distancing. Trump immediately countered with anti- rhetoric and dismissal. And as Democrats joined with health officials, Republicans simply defaulted to their tired game of opposition. Even as hospitals became over populated and equipment became scarce, Republicans continued their game for Trump. Would lockdown had even been a thing had Trump encouraged his moronic followers to wear masks? We will never know.

- Beyond February 26, Trump continued to dismiss health official warnings. "This is a flu. This is like a regular flu."
Democrats have no common sense, only the desire to control. Case in point:
Last week, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer ordered all stores larger than 50,000-square feet to cordon off their garden centers and plant nurseries, blocking customers from shopping in those sections through April 30. “If you're not buying food or medicine or other essential items, you should not be going to the store,” Whitmer said when announcing her order.

The shutdown follows an executive order from last month that’s been widely interpreted by many in the industry as banning greenhouses, independent garden centers, and plant nurseries from selling to the public, as part of a larger crackdown on activities deemed “not necessary to sustain or protect life.” (Curiously, the state’s list of “not necessary” items doesn’t include lottery tickets and liquor, which stores can continue to sell.)

That same year, the Michigan Supreme Court declared that Gov Whitmire did not have the power to circumvent the state legislative branch. Big surprise.

In this case, the Michigan Supreme Court held that the Emergency Powers of the Governor Act (EPGA), which Governor Whitmer used to justify her COVID-19 executive orders, is unconstitutional because it delegates legislative power to the executive branch in violation of the Michigan Constitution.

- On March 11, the Stock Market took a big dump because it could no longer sustain the nation's lack of official response to guide businesses, which were stumbling about. Corporations took charge in the absence of leadership from the President of the United States.

- On March 13, Trump abruptly declared a national emergency and red and blue states began to see lock downs on the guidance of corporate leaders, governors, and mayors. It was chaos. While businesses in Denver (and others) remained largely open by spreading out tables and even putting up tents to keep business going for their mask wearing consumers throughout the summer, other businesses across the country struggled with what to do as Republicans, especially in Red states, mocked the wearing of masks, and their case numbers rose. (Hence Texas, alone, receiving billions in aid for their hospitals in 2021.)

Trump allowed the individual states to decide their own courses. It's not surprising that Mad Libs wanted more top-down control, but it was because they liked control, not because they cared about anyone living or dying. They liked oversimplifying the alternatives because it allowed them to falsely portray themselves as "the party of health," and that illusion paid off for them big-time in the 2020 election.
- By March 26, the U.S. became the country with the most confirmed cases. Still, no national movement to create masks or ventilators as Trump kept playing games and pushing back on health officials, who had by then become the conservative's enemies.
Yeah, of course Mad Libs trust what other countries claim about their confirmed cases. If China really kept their cases down, they did so by forcing citizens to remain stuck in their homes, whether they had adequate food or not. Gretchen Witmer must have been SO envious.
- By March 31, Trump decided to stop calling it just a flu. "A lot of people that thought about it, ride it out, and think of it as the flu. But it's not the flu. It's vicious." What?!

It was Trump, his games, and the Republican Party's policy of irrational opposition that caused the lock-down train wreck.
Said train-wreck being that in your opinion, there wasn't enough lockdown?
The above was all, CLEARLY, a political game. One of Trump's former aides said that Trump was anti-mask because it put lines in his makeup. That's what your life was worth.
There's apparently no end to what or who a Mad Lib will believe to excoriate Trump. You probably still believe the one about Trump trying to overpower his driver.
Because they do! The very fact that wearing a mask during a global pandemic, while governments were going bankrupt, as America was winning first prize for cases, and as American hospitals were running out of equipment, should be enough to tell you where sensibility resides.

- As Democrats looked at childhood obesity reports in America and wanted to do something to help, Republicans pushed pizza to oppose.
I wasn't sure there was any virtue in glancing at another Lib laundry list. But the pizza comment provides ample justification, since it's a hilarious distortion. It was the race-conscious MSM that shot down Surgeon General Adams when he gave the eminently sane advice that Black citizens could be be proactive by making themselves less susceptible to Covid's effects. But the MSM, controlled by Mad Libs, wanted to sell the idea of racial inequity, and so they managed to neutralize Adams' voice from then on with their twaddle.

You are loyal to the side that uses no common sense and no rationale. You just witnessed Republicans spend years raging on the border, only to reject border security when a bi-partisan deal was struck...
A bi-partisan "deal" with the usual riders that had nothing to do with controlling border security. But you still validate Joe "I Can't Do Anything About the Border After Messing It Up" Biden.

Plenty of Democrats did. You are being obtuse again. Democrats aren't the ones who use "big brother" as a political platform. Republicans do. Democrats aren't the hypocrites.
Again, invoking Orwell is not hypocrisy; it's rhetoric. Hypocrisy is everything Brain Dead Biden has done.

California's many governmental sins deserve to get ragged on, but the animus has nothing to do with your strange obsession with forest fires.

Liberals don't get to decide which states in the country get to apply for relief. Clearly you're in favor of using the federal government's finances to compel compliance.

Perhaps the real problem is that you see America as either liberal or conservative. As an American, you are both. Clinging to a tribe is why this country is so dysfunctional.
The "tribe" argument is relatively new compared to most Mad Lib arguments, but it's already showing its age due to overuse.
You have just been trained to accept Republican lies as normal, thus deflecting and assigning the behavior to Democrats as well. "Alternate facts" has been accepted as way to cling to delusions. Still waiting to disprove any of my posts on Dem lies. I'd still like to see someone justify Witmer's rage against Michigan garden centers, but make your own choice.

But I guess raging about border invasions and rapists & murderers was just about "political showmanship" too, right? I mean, they clearly didn't mean it. Trump meant that SOME of the illegals entering the country were "rapists" and "criminals." The usual Lib response is that most illegals in the past have known how to keep their heads down with any unlawful activities. We're beginning to see that change, as when migrant thugs attacked and beat down two NY cops last January. NY thought the appropriate response was to release accused felons without bail, so that some if not all of them fled the state. Now that's a great example of Lib showmanship, with them showing that injuries to law officers can't be allowed to interfere with anti-bail virtue signaling.

Doesn't explain why people are fleeing West Virginia.
