3 Massachusetts school staff placed on leave over Charlie Kirk social media posts, superintendents say

I'm saying they still enjoy some protections. Since the 1st Amendment applies to the government, government employees enjoy greater speech protections than some private sector employees.
True, but it’s not the same level of protection as private citizens who don’t work for the government.

I agree with you. If someone says something stupid in the heat of the moment, give them a chance to apologize (publically), perhaps dock a week's pay, and the message is sent without ruining someone's career.

If you have no sympathy toward someone on the right being killed, you have no place in the education system. Half of your students and their parents are on that side of the aisle.
Does that go for any victim, or just right wing influencers?

I've said it repeatedly the last few days. It doesn't matter which side of the aisle the person killed is/was/will be. Anyone who cheers the death of someone whose only crime was saying words you don't like --- you have no place in education.

So anyone in education who made jokes about George Floyd should be fired?

If you celebrated that he was dead, yes. It's disgusting behavior.

It looks as if any and all jokes about the killings of Charlie Kirk, George Floyd, Trayvon Martin, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor et al should be fireable offenses.
