21yo Norwegian Tourist Claims He Was Denied Entry to U.S. Because of Vance Meme on his Phone

Do people in the US not understand how much travel to the US is advertised by both government and private companies to bring foreign tourists in? And those tourists that come from other places are allowed to believe whatever they want, and say whatever they want, just like Americans within the framework of the constitution, when they are invited and welcomed to the country? They don't need to pass a loyalty test for whatever leader happens to be in the seat at the white house.

Does no one here watch NatGeo 'Border Security'?

I'm betting it was something else that got this guy a 2nd look.
They may have suspected he was going to illegally work in the US. That's the reason a lot of people get sent packing at Canadian customs checkpoints.

In Alberta and BC a lot of people try to get in for the summer tourist hospitality jobs and winter ski resort gigs. Border control knows what to look for and what questions to ask.

I will say this

Ever since 2000 I remember always clearing social media and my phones of anything the US would potentially find troublesome.

So while Trump has seemingly made things worse in regard to border guards taking offense to negative memes vs Trump, the potential for US border security to go through your electronics has been present for 24 years.

As much as I hate the TSA, there’s more to this story than a Norwegian who claims he was detained for no reason and punished for a meme.

If he tried to enter a Iran with a meme of the Ayatollah they’d saw his head off and send it back to Norway in a basket.
Yes. That's why the new Christian Republic of America must use The Islamic Republic of Iran as its role model to aspire to! MAGA!

I'll take things that didn't happen for $1000, Alex.

Relax. It’s just a little perspective for you while you groan about first world inconveniences.
By mentioning an unrelated authoritarian country you attempted to bring a deflection, not "perspective".

"Perspective" is what I wrote in response and it bears repeating: by intimidating and interrogating the kid, America just took a step in that direction.

Man, Trump turned our country to shit in less than 6 months.

PS: If you're outside the US don't come here.

"Both pictures had been automatically saved to my camera roll from a chat app, but I really didn’t think that these innocent pictures would put a stop to my entry into the country,” Mikkelsen said.

Mikkelsen claims he pleaded with agents that the photos were a joke, but they still searched him and forced him to give blood samples and document his fingerprints."

This meme depicting a digitally altered JD Vance became popular in February. A tourist from Norway claims that having it on his phone is why he was denied entry into the United States.

Well he can claim that the reason he was denied after he was because he's blonde or not tall enough. But it's just speculation.

MAGA will not tolerate the entry into this country of anybody who holds anything other than a positive opinion of Donald, his children, and his cat-eating groupie.
It's funny how you people will just hear something and roll with it whether it's true or not.

Okay prove that he was denied entry because of a meme I don't think that's the case.
what the actual **** are you even talking about. Did you see the post I was responding to?
nice non sequitur

It is good, everybody should have a goal! Your is to make US look like Iran, so bravo for you! Keep up the good work!

Because his/her/it's comment is a utterly false equivalence and logically fallacious, the best response to an idiotic statement is an equally idiotic rebuttal. AKA sarcasm!

And Trump said he wanted more Norwegians rather than those from shit hole countries.

Countries have put travel warnings against the US because of stricter boarder enforcement.

While American universities also warn international students from going back home during holidays because they may not be allowed to reenter the US

They denied him entry because he admitted to drug use, probably why they wanted a blood sample.
