2017 College Football Thread [W:49]

I wonder how many LSU fans are wishing they had Les Miles right now. He would have never lost that game.

That was awesome. Troy used to be my division 2 college's rival years ago back when Troy was d2 and was called Troy State. Good on them. They kept coming close to such big wins. Finally paid off for them. Literally. On top of losing to Troy, LSU had to write them a million dollar check to play them. That's a lot of salt on top of that wound.
 
My lobos spanked air Force. Nice. But not as bad as Georgia spanked Tennessee for some sweet revenge for one of last year's losses. With Washington State's defeat of #5 USC UGA should move up to #6. Only two spots out of the playoff picture. Gotta keep winning.
 
Washington is going to be a tough out for anybody and they are doing it with 5 straight terrible recruiting classes. The Pirate getting it done.
 
Look at lowly Iowa State making it a game of it with #3 Oklahoma. Currently 24-24.
 
Unranked Iowa State did it. They took down the mighty #3 Sooners. Wow!

Now my Bulldogs will be #4 next week. In the playoff hunt.

I wouldn’t doubt if they move to #3. They like to dog Penn State in rankings when they can. It doesn’t really matter right now anyways.

It kinda does matter. So if you lose from #4 rank you can make it back up. If you were #12 and lost... you'd have a helluva slog to make it to the playoffs.

I mean it doesn’t matter at this point because the playoff poll hasn’t started yet. The AP poll means nothing.

Are you referring to Penn State as number four? What ranked teams have they played this year? There is simply no way Penn State should be ranked in the top ten at this point. With the exception of 3 games none of which they have played at this point Penn State has a cupcake schedule. Fine and good if they win out the rest of the season. If so then let them move up in ranking but starting the year with nothing but cupcakes through game six shouldn't earn anyone a ranking of four.

But as you say the AP has little relevance at least until mid-season.
 
I've watched football all day today as I do every Saturday. I was watching Alabama vs. Texas A&M till the half. I've switched over to Michigan vs. Michigan State.

I must make a confession. Anymore I don't really watch Alabama games unless they're playing Auburn or a team that may give them a bit of fight. Alabama games have become boring. Tonight I wondered if viewership has dropped for Alabama games. Unless one of your favorite teams is playing Alabama the games are not that interesting. There's little sport in an Alabama. Saban and staff are so damn good and the players are so skilled that, well, they are pretty boring to watch.
 

Bama will probably not be challenged until they play Clemson again in the CG.
 
Arizona's Kalil Tate broke the record for single game rush yards by a QB. 327 yards on 14 carries. Damn.

Only if Alabama gets cocky and fails to show up. They sort of did that yesterday against A&M, although they still won.
