20 + C + M + B + 25 .... do you know this blessing?

CMB stands for the name of the 3 Magi

or for Christ may bless this house ... in Latin
Do you also put a symbol above your door so the angel of death will pass you by and not take your first born?

and did you know the meaning of the title?
Not only do I not know, I don't care. Is you life basically wrapped around your religious beliefs? Speaking of beliefs, are beliefs facts?

The inscription "20 + C + M + B + 25" is part of an Epiphany tradition where Christians use blessed chalk to mark their homes, particularly above the main entrance. The numbers 20 and 25 represent the current year (2025), the crosses (+) symbolize Christ, and the letters C, M, and B are traditionally interpreted in two ways: as the initials of the names of the Three Wise Men (Caspar, Melchior, and Balthazar) who visited the baby Jesus, or as an abbreviation of the Latin phrase "Christus mansionem benedicat," meaning "May Christ bless this house," according to Boundless.org. The marking is a prayer for Christ's blessing on the home and all who enter it throughout the year.

That and a dollar will get you a cup of coffee.

Really, how so.

Thanks!

I had never heard of this before. My grandmother was from Poland and my grandfather was from Ukraine. They got bread blessed during the mass at Easter and other traditions, but I don't remember them chalking the door. This was in the northeast so it could also be regional.

My grandmother and grandfather on my mothers side were from Poland. Ukraine is always on my mind, hopefully this awful war will come to an end.
