ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - State health leaders say more people are taking Ivermectin to treat COVID-19. In some cases, it's been deadly.

The New Mexico Department of Health said two people in New Mexico have died from Ivermectin toxicity. Not much is known about either patient -- but one of them was battling a severe case of COVID-19.
"It's a serious issue, we need to watch it,” said Dr. David Scrase, NMDOH acting secretary.

"Thoughts and prayers" for their families.

At least they're no longer spreaders...of infection or dangerous information.

More grave dancing by beefheart. Never seen anyone get so aroused by the misfortune of others.

The secret joys of schadenfreude

My heart goes out for the poor horses which may have been deprive of that medicine.
I've got a couple of tubes that are expired. So I wont use them for my horses, but maybe I'll put them on eBay and see what I can get for them? What do you think?

Go for it, maybe at a slight discount for being expired, but why deprive someone?

You'll be saving lives, man!

We checked our dog monthly meds and one of them (heartworm I'm assuming, the wife actually checked) was ivermectin.

Before we pass judgement or present an award, we should find out if they had worms or internal mites.

The horses or the humans?

If someone has worms or internal mites and they over did it because they decided to wing it, that's a different thing. Maybe they had good results and then went overboard. That's not a Darwin Award.

I really don't understand anti-vaxx combined with pro-ivermectin/hydroxychlorquine.
Really I don't understand anti-vaxx in general now that it's FDA approved especially.
I took Zantac for 20 years over the counter most of that, and it turns out it might cause cancer. It's not like I stopped taking all drugs like a nutcase.

Nuts! I do so much enjoy handing out Darwin Awards.

There's a procedure. Ivermectin deaths must be confirmed non-worm and non-internal mite diagnoses.

If they did it without a Dr's diagnosis and recommendation...yes they are eligible.

Not if they had worms. That would be common shenanigans of the "over doing it" variety.

Brings back memories when I was a kid.Mom rubbed bacon grease on my ass cheeks to get the worms to come out.

Yes, it's a poison.

For our animals, it's a balance between parasitic infection and organ damage. The bar is lower for side effects.

Even for humans, "a doctor" will assess that risk and recommend a minimum necessary dose...but it's still taking a poison and trading treating parasitic infection against possible organ damage.
