When it comes to freedom, most conservatives are total frauds. They accuse "the left" of being totalitarians but they're the ones who want to throw people in prison or have them fired for not showing enough patriotism.

The boy said the flag was racist and the national anthem was offensive to black people when a substitute teacher asked him to stand for the pledge Feb. 4, Bay News 9 reported.

"Why, if it was so bad here, he did not go to another place to live," the teacher wrote in a discipline report, Bay News 9 reported. He replied, "They brought me here."

The substitute continued, "Well you can always go back, because I came here from Cuba and the day I feel I'm not welcome here anymore I would find another place to live."

She wrote that she then called the office because she did not want to deal with the student any longer.

The sixth-grader, who is in the gifted program at Lawton Chiles Middle Academy, was arrested and charged with disrupting a school function and resisting arrest without violence, Bay News 9 reported. The child, who was not identified, was taken to a juvenile detention center. He was also suspended from school for three days.

It's how that kind of thing is done by people who've been doing it for centuries.
Two principles that have been attributed to the Jesuits (and I can't confirm that any Jesuit ever actually said them)-

1- "Give me a child for his first seven years and I will give you the man."
2- "Act as if ye have faith and faith shall be given unto you."

Works for lots of things, including patriotism.

Here's what the article says --- the substitute teacher told him to stand up and he refused saying the flag was racist. She/He called down to the office because he was disrupting the class (which, of course, the substitute started because he/she didn't know that standing for the pledge wasn't a mandatory activity, I guess). Then what happened? The school knows standing for the Pledge isn't mandatory, so what caused them to call the police? The kid goes down to the office and then they call the police because he didn't stand up for the Pledge? Even though it's in their own rules that you don't have to stand for the Pledge? I find that incredibly hard to believe. He must've done something to warrant the office staff/principal to get help from law enforcement.

From a link inside that article.

Mother Upset After Son Kicked Out of Class Over Pledge

According to the arrest affidavit, the student was arrested by the school resource officer because he refused to follow multiple commands, repeatedly called school leaders racist and was disruptive. They said he threatened to get the school resource officer and principal fired and to beat the teacher.

From what we know it seems like pretty extreme reaction of officials. Obviously a "had to be there" moment.

So sub teacher didn't know the rules and it results in this kid being arrested? Simple solution was let the kid sit and take it up after school was out. She would have quickly learned that he wasn't required to stand, end of story.
