One in six French people say they support ISIS - Vox

If you combine this with the reported news of Americans fighting with ISIS and the suspected British rapper who killed Foley, you can bet that there will be a growing terrorist movement within the West. More and more young people are pissed off at the imperialist policies of their governments and will be committing homegrown terror acts soon.

(On a side note an overwhelming number of Gaza residents- Palestinians, are against ISIS, more than the Europeans)

So I know that statistics are BS and furthermore, I know for a fact that said poll was released by RT, directly or indirectly, and hence, because it is RT, it is invalid. You cannot expect it to be done in a correct manner.

So the news you posted is invalid. And therefore, so are your opinions.

Right. Care to post a link that invalidates the poll?

I seen they had that up yesterday on Vox.....but I didn't know how good the polling was. But aren't the French more favorable to Muslims anyways?

Good point, the French do have a large Muslim population so its not really surprising. And since they share an open border with Germany and ferries travel to England regularly, it could be a major headache for authorities.

And the poll is from Vox Media, an American company, has got nothing to do with RT.

Here is a chart of the results of the polls. The first, by ICM Research, asked people in Germany, France, and the UK whether they had a favorable or unfavorable view of ISIS.

http://www.icmresearch.com/media-centre/press/isis-poll-for-rossiya-segodnya
An ICM poll on behalf of the Russian news agency Rossiya Segodnya tested the awareness of the group ISIS (previously known as the Islamic State of Iraq and Levant), in three European nations; Great Britain, France and Germany. The poll revealed that overall 2% and 7% say they are very favourable and somewhat favourable towards ISIS but a greater 26% and 43% are somewhat unfavourable and very unfavourable towards ISIS.

ICM is a British polling company so this is a red herring. Show me a link that refutes the poll, please.

I'd be curious about the findings if a similar poll were to be conducted today in the aftermath of James Foley's death. I get the sense that many people were idealizing ISIS up to that point in many European countries. I mean, hell, even the Saudi Arabian grand Mufti is saying they are a despicable lot.

Young people are really pissed off at the imperialist policies of their governments but I doubt it would lead in terrorist actions, not in West, not in East.
Europe is not like that.

Yeah, I know that's why I mentioned Vox. I read their Piece on the Immigration Issue.

The poll was conducted by ICM Research for the Russian news agency Rossiya Segodnya.

The poll was conducted by ICM Research for the Russian news agency Rossiya Segodnya.

So basically, as I said, it's not a honest poll. It doesn't even pretend to be. It's dishonest and therefore, it's crap and therefore any opinion based on it is invalid. Just like I declared in post #2.

And yes, just because ICM is a company that isn't russian, if you lay the tracks right, that's where the train goes. That russian newspaper is interested in a poll that makes it seem a certain way, that's how the poll will turn out. You can poll heavily muslim populations in France, like, say, Marseille, and get a skewed report. Or you can poll Normandy in France and you'll see the number be closer to 0 since the number of muslims in Normandy, or Brittany, or other places in France are very, very low.

Dishonest poll made by dishonest people with an agenda. Invalid.

Sorry but he is true, RT is mad retarded, it's like the FOX news of conspiracy news networks.

Not that I care, French can't fight for ****, let em support ISIS, at best they'll supply them with baguettes.

The French kicked out the arab jihadis that wanted to establish a caliphate in Northern Mali and overran the Malian army while doing so just fine.

They went in all guns blazing without notice to the rest of us, the Dutch had to hurry up deployment in order not to miss out on the action. They were the first to start bombing lybia too or at least pushed hard for it ,if I am not mistaken.

They do their part just fine if you ask me

A independent polling agency doing a poll for someone you dont like does not mean its invalid.

I dont think you get it.

A poll was done by a British firm for RT.

RT didnt do the poll.

Every poll has an agenda.

Youre pulling a red herring.

Neat link.

Europe is not like that.

It already has lead to terrorist attacks in Europe and they were before the implosion of Muslim dignitas.

While Rainman is right in pointing out the dangers of taking RT information at face value and keeping in mind the fact that surveys can be manipulated, I tend to think that the problem is very real. The number of fighters from Europe that have joined the IS indicates a very wide base of sympathizers.

This poll doesn't make much sense to me, so I think it's misleading at the very least, if not inaccurate. It says that 7% of the UK has a favorable view of Isis. Yet the Muslim population of the UK is more like 5%. It says that 16% of French people support Isis. Yet, the Muslim population of France is 10% or less. Next consider that all Shiites hate Isis because Isis wants to destroy Shiite Islam and even many Sunnis hate Isis. How then can the percentage of ppl supporting Isis in these countries be so high? By all means, correct me if my numbers are wrong.

Obviously its not just the Muslims in those countries who are starting to have sympathy for ISIS. But if there's a more accurate poll out there then by all means one can post it.

Some issues here.

1) The polling company used is not a "real" polling company but a subsidiary of a marketing company. It has only recently (like last month) been official part of the UK Polling Council. This makes it suspect off the bat. Was the marketing company hired to promote something and used their own polling company to fabricate a poll.. would not be the first time.

2) Sample is very low. 1000 people in each country... the margin of error is huge at that low sample group. In fact in the poll data, I cant find any information on what the margin of error is, which is strange.

One would also think that if they had made such a poll, that they would have done so also in the US and a few more countries, but no they choose 3 very specific countries. This to me is very strange to say the least.

Add to this the other questions asked in the poll... also some strange questions that most Europeans know nothing about or care about.
