“Freedom is a fragile thing and it's never more than one generation away from extinction. It is not ours by way of inheritance...

...it must be fought for and defended constantly by each generation.”

Ronald Reagan, Inaugural Address as CA Governor, Jan. 5, 1967.
You must be very happy about Donald's Supreme Court appointments that helped restore our private gun ownership rights then! (y)

Yeah, our country was really light on guns before that.

Yeah, in reading about European countries collapsing into fascism in the 1930s and seeing other countries being taken over by dictators, I always assumed we were passed that stage.

But when you think about, it, we've really only been a democracy for about 50 years, since the passing of the Voting Rights Act.

But here and now, it is being discarded. Dark times ahead for our young democracy.

There is a city in your country being occupied by federal troops right now. Would you suggest the solution to be the residents of that city exercise their second amendment rights?

Your question doesn't make any sense. US troops cannot "occupy" their own land in the traditional sense of the word.

What else would you call it? They did not ask for this. Armed Federal military troops have been placed in their city and neighborhoods against their will, and being shoved down their throats: “shut up and take it- it’s for your own good”.

That’s your idea of proud freedom in America?

I think I can start to see where the second amendment may come in to this after all.

Stationed.

Yeah, I'm sure the inner city hoodlums and illegals are really upset!

Oh yes because effective police freedom = no freedom.

Oh yes, an emergency police state- because “hoodlums and illegals”- where crime was dropping. I am sure the founding fathers would be pleased.

Said the guy who put the US on the road to oligarchy; to crippling debt; and to Americans losing freedoms that are inevitable with those things.

That was back when pretty words about freedom were expected of a president. I was just thinking tonight, when has trump ever praised freedom, other than abusing the word for things like allowing racist policies? Because he clearly wants the opposite for the country. There's a direct line from Reagan to trump.

Yes, more than they would have been with the rampant crime in these inner city shitholes.
