“SpaceX Pushes Its Luck With $1,000 Starlink 'Demand Surcharge' in 3 States.”

PC Magazine (06/27/2025)

Musk is charging three NW Pacific states; Washington, Idaho and Oregon, a one time $1000$ surcharge because (allegedly) demand for Starlink is high there so Musk can get away with it.

It’s not new. In other states he’s been charging $750. He’s just pushing it harder now.

Musk showing his oligarchical chops. Find a need, fill it and charge till it hurts to do so.

Unless you're going into remote areas, what does Starlink offer that Fibre & 5G don't?

Same here.

Comcast is pretty good. I just ran a speed test -721.14 mbps download, 179.93 upload. Upload could be better. Next we'll have the choice of Metronet fiber. They seem to be having some latency problems in the Springs, but their customer service is aware of it and very honest about it.

Mush must feel he isn't hated enough.

There only so much total bandwidth. You have to charge the correct price or else you may overwhelm the system.
