‘It’s been a total witch-hunt. It takes its toll’: the LGBTQ+ families fleeing red states

I have two trans friends in florda who can't get medication and will have to leave, despite being long past 18 years old. The one just bought a half million dollar condo and has a startup computer business that will tank because of DeSantis. She voted for Trump is 2016 and voted for DeSantis. Maybe she will learn her lesson about voting for republicans soon.

These laws only further my fear and anxiety.”

If the 14th amendment goes, our right to marriage and our freedom from sodomy laws, all that could go on a national level,” says McCranie. “So if we flee the state, but our rights go on a national level, the question becomes: do we need to flee the United States?"

When the Supreme Court affirmed gay marriage but gutted the voting rights act, many blacks had the same feeling about gays.

But only the oppressor wins if marginalized groups resent each other. An injustice for one is an injustuce for all.

Beyind that, why would people continue to live in a state where they are needlessly repressed?

This is one reason we should stand up for trans rights even if we're not trans.
