    When you get enough engineers together with businessmen and politicians, they need to come up with plans to get "their share". They will turn blind eyes to potential disasters that don't affect them negatively. I worked at several engineering projects and even got challenged by some of them...

    Pretty sure property tax will get collected by the state. OTOH, I know of a family that left AZ for 2 years after losing jobs. Lost those jobs and came back to AZ. Their house was still empty. and they still had keys, so they moved back in....don't know for how long.
