Violence has long been weaved into the fabric of the American left, and until we honestly reckon with that, a bleak political future awaits.

Yes. And I'm using speech to rebuke those people for celebrating murder. I think that's a healthier way of dealing with speech you don't like than murdering someone. Don't you?

[W#271][W:914] Charlie Kirk Reportedly Shot in Utah: Live Updates

"You can’t stop with these sort of awful thoughts you have and then saying these awful words and not expect awful actions to take place." We can and do expect people to be able to engage in political dialogue and not expect assassinations. All the guy did was engage in debate. Those who opposed...

To me, the motive matters less than the response, with many not only condoning the act, but cheering it. People should not get assassinated for things they say. That's something everyone should agree on.

I certainly wouldn't employ someone who supports assassination simply because they disagree with another's political beliefs.

"Don't assasinate people because you don't like what they say" is not "the highest of standards."

Democrats Want An AHole To Be President

This is just name recognition. Democrats responding to that poll were likely thinking "if this is who have to choose from, we're screwed" Gavin's team can't be happy about the fact that he's in a statistical tie with the worst candidate since Mondale.
