What did you have for dinner? -Part dois

Last night, I served mint 'chutney' (really a cross between mint chutney and tzatziki sauce) chicken with white rice, and bagels with cream cheese and caviar lumpfish roe. Tonight, I had (different leftover) chicken soup with nopales, and more of last night's dinner served over spaghetti noodles.

Should homeschooling and/or private schooling be banned in the US?

You ever the saying "everybody pays a mortgage, you're either paying your own or somebody else's"? Same goes for property tax.

Should homeschooling and/or private schooling be banned in the US?

High standards are attainable, better standards are usually attainable. But no matter how much better they get, there's always better, and eventually that level of better is unattainable.

Should homeschooling and/or private schooling be banned in the US?

Obviously, the obligation is to do the best they can, but that's subjective and and unattainable. We can set standards, but we likewise need recognize that the government shouldn't hold families up to standards that it-- with all its resources-- is incapable of meeting.

Should homeschooling and/or private schooling be banned in the US?

If it weren't for double standards, most people wouldn't have any standards at all. Hypocrisy is the defining characteristic of human morality.

Should homeschooling and/or private schooling be banned in the US?

I went to public school; my wife was homeschooled. I am admittedly not great at math, but she's better at all three of them than I am. My daughter attended a 'public' charter/magnet school for her first couple of years, and the standard of education was higher than she is being provided...

EXECUTIVE ORDER: Protecting Second Amendment Rights

Sound and fury, signifying nothing. The only Federal regulations they're examining, in their own words, were those implemented by the previous administration. This isn't gun rights, it's the temper tantrum of a manchild who can't let go of the fact he lost, even after he won.

Fetterman says Democratic Party brand is 'toxic' thanks to constant 'shaming and scolding'

Late to the party. Or Party. Whatever. Kinda missing the point, here. The Democratic Party 'brand' hasn't become toxic for shaming and scolding the GOP and Trump and their coalition of Bigots, Nobodies, and Perverts (thanks, UK, you're good for something after all); they're not losing their...

How Many Guns Do You Own?

Firearms instructors are part of the NRA's original mission and, for the most part, are the exact opposite of the NRA's insane propaganda wing. They reach the responsible and law-abiding bearing and usage of arms to people who are serious about personal safety. I've known several firearms...

How Many Guns Do You Own?

Sure, I own guns. Not many, not a collection or an arsenal, but I own a couple and feel like I ought to own a couple more. Don't have a problem with people who own more than me, and I can respect people who recognize when they (personally) shouldn't own any. But, generally speaking, most people...

Age of Consent Question - Based on Recent Events

It's a complicated question, laden with emotional responses. Generally, I think somewhere in the 16-18 range is correct for unconditional age of consent. The big problem is that it's a black-and-white solution to a problem that's full of shades of grey; there needs to be black-letter-law...

Would you vote for a woman for President?

Yeah, if they were otherwise acceptable candidates. I didn't vote for Clinton. I would have voted for Harris if... y'know, I didn't live in Wyoming. It'd be just as pointless-- if not moreso-- if a less centrist, less "establishment" woman ran on the Democratic ticket, but I'd turn out just to...

pro gun people make no sense

Those guns are already tightly regulated, and have been since 1986. The 'assault weapons bans' that anti-gun activists keep clamoring for only ban guns that look like them. And every gun looks like a military weapon to people who don't think civilians should have weapons.

I Don't Really See How We Get Through This

It's going to be a shit show for a lot longer than the next four years, regardless of any backlash against Trump and Trumpism. They have the Executive and Legislative branches right now, but they're going to have the Judicial branch for decades. Basically... right now the liberal-left is...

Jesse Watters (of Fox News) own mama has decided not invite him for Thanksgiving. This will happen among tons of families.

It really doesn't matter what people are sick of being told. To "put it crudely", I don't give a **** what they're sick of hearing. I'm not blaming them for MAGA and I'm not telling them they have to "kiss MAGA ass", but these ****ing idiotic political powerbottoms need to look out the ****ing...
