Prison - Remove all weight lifting equipment

They should make them do water aerobics and synchronized swimming. Now that's punishment.

Prison - Remove all weight lifting equipment

Gym equipment should be accessible only to prisoners with good behavior, as a privilege. Any infraction and the privilege should be taken away. Let those who are willing to work with the system and actually attempt rehabilitation get the privileges. It's a pretty strong incentive to behave.

Man attacked by lion, saved by bear

Even if it did happen as he said, I doubt the bear was acting to protect him (as he thinks). She was probably just protecting her cubs. The fact that he wasn't mauled by the bear as well (after it went after the cougar) makes me a little less inclined to believe his story outright.

    Teachers + Class + cell phone = ???

I would've probably given the teacher an applause... but that would just disrupt the class even more.

Why does the bible seemingly condone and/or encourage stoning, slavery, and genocide?

Re: Why does the bible seemingly condone and/or encourage stoning, slavery, and genoc I'll accept that it can be characterized as a form of fate. The mischaracterization I was pointing out was when you wrote "[...] ultimately, all taking of innocent life is eventually a justified means to...

    If Abortion Did Not Exist...

That ain't what happened at all. Accepting that a "Children's Crusade" happened at all, (it's debatable), all of the primary source material suggests that it was a spontaneous movement -- it wasn't pushed by the Catholic church. I haven't seen any historian claim otherwise -- most nowadays...

Why does the bible seemingly condone and/or encourage stoning, slavery, and genocide?

Re: Why does the bible seemingly condone and/or encourage stoning, slavery, and genoc Because, once again, the idea is not that a perfect world is to be created here on earth -- at least not at the moment. Imperfections, suffering, sin, are all the product of men's choices; God allows men to...

Why does the bible seemingly condone and/or encourage stoning, slavery, and genocide?

Re: Why does the bible seemingly condone and/or encourage stoning, slavery, and genoc That doesn't invalidate what he was saying... especially when you consider that Jesus's purpose was to offer redemption to all sinners, regardless.

Why does the bible seemingly condone and/or encourage stoning, slavery, and genocide?

Re: Why does the bible seemingly condone and/or encourage stoning, slavery, and genoc No, that's hyperbole and so simplistic that it misrepresents what I said. I didn't say all taking of life is justified -- men are not God. Men who commit such acts can, and should, obviously be scrutinized...

Moral question: Should we permit everything that doesn't "harm others"?

I certainly believe that we should have societal and moral standards -- so I do believe in some restrictions on people. I do not, however, believe that the proper enforcement mechanism of such standards is necessarily the government (sometimes it is, usually its not). Societies/families/people...

Why does the bible seemingly condone and/or encourage stoning, slavery, and genocide?

Re: Why does the bible seemingly condone and/or encourage stoning, slavery, and genoc Let's put it this way: Do you know, without a doubt, what became of those children after death? Can you prove there's no afterlife? Of course the answer is "no," how would you prove a negative? These are...

Why does the bible seemingly condone and/or encourage stoning, slavery, and genocide?

Re: Why does the bible seemingly condone and/or encourage stoning, slavery, and genoc  Of course you don't have to. But the idea of faith is central to Christian doctrine. If answers to every doubt were easily discernable or ultimately proveable (in a scientific) sense, beyond a...
