    USA's Gun 'Problem': My solution

It may be crazy but I can't help but think that if guns didn't exist then deaths by guns would go WAY down.

    USA's Gun 'Problem': My solution

Okay, true, so let's switch gears for a second. Cars kill more people than guns do. If we completely ban cars then I think logically the deaths caused by cars will go WAY down. But we don't want to ban cars, and we don't want to ban guns either. The solution to trying to lower death by cars...

    USA's Gun 'Problem': My solution

There's no correlation between the two. I doubt that any criminal thinks "wow, gun ownership is up, so I'd better not kill anybody."

    USA's Gun 'Problem': My solution

Well, I'm not, and yet I find myself in a weird place, because of the polarization that the mere thought of possible restrictions of gun ownership has brought on, that I would suggest the threat of the death penalty as the lesser of two evils to attempt to curtail gun use in crimes.

    USA's Gun 'Problem': My solution

If you're right that all people who use guns to commit crimes are "violent/potentially mental health patients", which you probably are, then why should society pay for lifetime incarceration for them if they are of no use to society and have no potential for rehabilitation? Wouldn't the death...

    USA's Gun 'Problem': My solution

Excessive? I'll say that my idea won't become a law, anyway, but what IS the answer? It looks like restrictions to gun ownership, whether we like it or not, laws that will probably make millions of Americans into law-breakers and secessionists, is what is GOING to happen.

    USA's Gun 'Problem': My solution

And my plan does just that. You are free as a citizen of the USA to own a gun. If you use it to commit a crime, you will be sentenced to death.....pure and simple. If that's not a deterrent to gun use then what is?

    USA's Gun 'Problem': My solution

No doubt they can still get guns in other states or cities.

    GOP congressman threatens impeachment

The has been an Executive Order ban of assault weapons. I don't remember if it was President Clinton or President George H.W. Bush who initiated it, but there is certainly a precedence for a presidential executive order regarding weapons.

    USA's Gun 'Problem': My solution

I think the fact that so many murders by gun occur in the United States, especially in comparison to other countries with gun control laws, or gun bans, plus the fact that so many other crimes are committed with the use of a gun, in fact DOES suggest that the USA has a gun problem.

    USA's Gun 'Problem': My solution

The idea is meant as a deterrent to gun use. If you know that if you use a gun in the committing of a crime that you are going to die then most sane people would not use a gun. Fewer guns = less killing which is, I think, the goal.

    USA's Gun 'Problem': My solution

Instead of banning guns, or magazines, or anything like that, just make the penalty for use of a gun in a crime the death penalty. If you use a .22 to steal a pack of gum, the death penalty. If you use an assault weapon to murder children, the death penalty. No recourse.

How do you view the South?

The South was wrong in the Civil War and continues to be consistently wrong on most issues. Votes against their own self interests because of LBJ's civil rights bills. Continually highest in unmarried and teen pregnancies, highest in illiteracy, highest in unemployment, lowest in quality of...

Mitch McConnell wealth increase from 3.1 million to 27.2 million

I guess if you're not rich when you become a Senator, you will become rich while you're there. There is talk of Ashley Judd running against Mitch. I hope she does. I think she could win.
